Please explain this persons thought process behind this?!

Well in theory they’re not all wrong in the sense that Oti picked her and Michael for her team on Greatest Dancer. If her and michael hadn’t done the show and weren’t picked by Oti it’s unlikely that either of them would’ve been picked for the show unless they were poached from another European version.

But her dance talent is all her but you can’t deny they both got a boost by association.

Same here - I have no issue with anyone showing emotion. It’s an overwhelming, exhausting experience. But when every dance becomes a personal crusade or a sob-fest it becomes hackneyed.

And yes, I 100% blame Ore for prising open the show’s floodgates and then forgetting to close them behind him.
It becomes an issue when other couples quite rightly keep their personal issues on the lowdown - how must they be feeling when the same ones each week quite readily are not backwards in coming forwards with the 'emotional' tug and garnering votes (and scores) through it. There's a huge difference between a tear in the eye or a lump in the throat and a full-on 'woe is me'. It is bound to be seen as 'game-playing' when it is the same couples demanding empathy, sadly I think Claudia and Shirley are complicit in this imbalance. I will vote for the ones just getting on with it.

I think it does depend on how you feel about the person to begin with too. Next week Hamza is dancing to celebrate BBC wildlife and that’s a subject close to his heart. If he got a bit choked up and then mentioned how his love for wildlife comes from birdwatching with his dearly departed granddad - most of us here who love him would be like ‘Aw Hamza! 🥺
Yes, hard and cynical as I am, I would get a bit mushy. Difference is, Hamza can dance. He doesn’t need a story to get votes.

Watching this video which popped up on my Instagram timeline and seeing the second half of it where Jowita is talking to Hamza after getting their 39 has reminded me we’ve not had many of these ‘reactions in the corridor just after they’ve received their scores’ scenes like what we used to get in previous series on the results show

We only get one of the judges doing a voiceover whilst recapping what happened on Saturday night

Hamza is a joy. That smile 😍😍😍😍😍😍

I think as well, we forget how much of our wildlife is in crisis right now. Hamza using his platform to raise awareness and encourage people to help is no bad thing. But yes, I think it definitely helps that he's well-liked and very talented in terms of how we'd respond.

Yeah, I am in the 'Give me raw sex/an amazing salsa' camp! Emotion should come as a side-effect, not consciously squeezed out. I don't blame Jayde for being so emotional and hopefully SCD has been healing for her to some extent, but it will inevitably have a turn-off effect for some, just as kid warz, nans, living sisters appearing in West End musicals etc do.

The sob stories are beginning to have an opposite effect, I’d rather vote for someone who just entertains and isn’t woe is me. Will is off my voting list, he’s a proper misery
same here - those that are just getting on with the job
(Will seemed to be feeling rather better when they filmed the results show 'yay .. your'e through' Clauditorium bit - the magic of Day Nurse, aspirin gargle and squirty throat spray certainly did the trick!)

Musically Dave Arch and the musicians will nail the tunes this weekend
The Hamza dance toon I was dreading but the band salsa-fied it perfectly

I think the musicians are really quite amazing. It's a shame the singers let them down. I think the problem is not having enough singers - no one voice suits every song. They need more variety of skills, instead of just two or three singers.

I wonder if both they and the band find themselves inadvertently booming "ECUADOR! DA-DAA, DADA DADADA!" at various points throughout the week, because god knows I have.

Just imagining Hamza in a cold damp hide with his camera, watching a nest of blue-footed gillywobblers for 10 hours, waiting quietly for the fledgling to leave the nest, sitting in absolute silence, and then the urge comes over him....

"ECUADOR!"
The singers must have been loving that.

So we shout Ecuador! randomly? Doesn’t matter if it’s in time?

yes

Sister was watching Loose Women*, and the subject of the mole was raised. She said you use Twitter do you know anything about the results being leaked. Oh no I said, I don’t have a clue ( I look at the spoilers here). If I believed in the idea of heaven I wouldn’t be going there when I die.
I felt for Jayde when talking about losing her sister, Will talking Mental Health, and Matt talking about his mum and sister, but I don’t want to be confronted by these subjects being discussed every Saturday night by celebrities on a light entertainment show. It’s important these things are talked about, but I feel it’s a bit like overload at the moment. For me personally it’s the same with menopause being discussed everywhere. I live with depression, have lost family and friends, and am perimenopausal, but these things don’t define me, aren’t the sum total of me, and sometimes I just want to switch off from these topics. These are just my opinions and I don’t mean to offend or upset anyone.

Most of the people on those shows are usually invited to audition, Jowita like much of the current Pros had already danced in Burn the floor and was known to Jason Gilkison.

Apparently several couples are ill as well now, cheers Will

Oh dear is this a new crop? Last week Hamza, Kym, Vito and although it wasn't mentioned I suspect Katya were all ill with the same thing.
It's the same every year, except ironically during the Covid isolation years, that most of the celebs get a cold/flu and likely the dancers too but they are used to dancing poorly from their touring years.

Oh sorry it was last week!

Oti should get the same credit for Jowita’s choreography as Neil should for Katya’s.

The square root of eff all.

The one good thing about Neil getting a partnership was the proof that Katya is one talented teacher and chorographer in her own right.
Neils routines were forgettable, and Alex was much improved during her time with Kevin in comparison to being part of the Neil show.

I could tolerate Matt's story but Jayde...not so much.

I take nothing from Jaydes grief but to bring it up on a light entertainment show that is voted for by the PUBLIC in such a dramatic, sobbing way, well I can only speak for myself, I didn't like it. I don't like ANY of the sob stories.

A pity he isn't.

Jes*s he is omnipresent at all things strictly. Face forward at the awards ceremony. Why do SCD keep him on board? There must be plenty of young eager, talented and attractive dancers that would love a shot at SCD.

It's baffling:unsure:
