When it boils down to it, the sob stories are really boring too.
Please explain this persons thought process behind this?!
It becomes an issue when other couples quite rightly keep their personal issues on the lowdown - how must they be feeling when the same ones each week quite readily are not backwards in coming forwards with the 'emotional' tug and garnering votes (and scores) through it. There's a huge difference between a tear in the eye or a lump in the throat and a full-on 'woe is me'. It is bound to be seen as 'game-playing' when it is the same couples demanding empathy, sadly I think Claudia and Shirley are complicit in this imbalance. I will vote for the ones just getting on with it.Same here - I have no issue with anyone showing emotion. It’s an overwhelming, exhausting experience. But when every dance becomes a personal crusade or a sob-fest it becomes hackneyed.
And yes, I 100% blame Ore for prising open the show’s floodgates and then forgetting to close them behind him.
Yes, hard and cynical as I am, I would get a bit mushy. Difference is, Hamza can dance. He doesn’t need a story to get votes.I think it does depend on how you feel about the person to begin with too. Next week Hamza is dancing to celebrate BBC wildlife and that’s a subject close to his heart. If he got a bit choked up and then mentioned how his love for wildlife comes from birdwatching with his dearly departed granddad - most of us here who love him would be like ‘Aw Hamza! ’
Watching this video which popped up on my Instagram timeline and seeing the second half of it where Jowita is talking to Hamza after getting their 39 has reminded me we’ve not had many of these ‘reactions in the corridor just after they’ve received their scores’ scenes like what we used to get in previous series on the results show
We only get one of the judges doing a voiceover whilst recapping what happened on Saturday night

same here - those that are just getting on with the jobThe sob stories are beginning to have an opposite effect, I’d rather vote for someone who just entertains and isn’t woe is me. Will is off my voting list, he’s a proper misery
Musically Dave Arch and the musicians will nail the tunes this weekend
The Hamza dance toon I was dreading but the band salsa-fied it perfectly
The singers must have been loving that.I wonder if both they and the band find themselves inadvertently booming "ECUADOR! DA-DAA, DADA DADADA!" at various points throughout the week, because god knows I have.
Just imagining Hamza in a cold damp hide with his camera, watching a nest of blue-footed gillywobblers for 10 hours, waiting quietly for the fledgling to leave the nest, sitting in absolute silence, and then the urge comes over him....
"ECUADOR!"
Oti should get the same credit for Jowita’s choreography as Neil should for Katya’s.Saw someone on DS trying to credit Oti for Jowita's success this year.
Think Jowita is a talent in her own right and the credit is 100% her and Hamza's.
Well in theory they’re not all wrong in the sense that Oti picked her and Michael for her team on Greatest Dancer. If her and michael hadn’t done the show and weren’t picked by Oti it’s unlikely that either of them would’ve been picked for the show unless they were poached from another European version.
But her dance talent is all her but you can’t deny they both got a boost by association.
Apparently several couples are ill as well now, cheers Will
Oh sorry it was last week! Most of the people on those shows are usually invited to audition, Jowita like much of the current Pros had already danced in Burn the floor and was known to Jason Gilkison.
Oh dear is this a new crop? Last week Hamza, Kym, Vito and although it wasn't mentioned I suspect Katya were all ill with the same thing.
It's the same every year, except ironically during the Covid isolation years, that most of the celebs get a cold/flu and likely the dancers too but they are used to dancing poorly from their touring years.

The square root of eff all.
The one good thing about Neil getting a partnership was the proof that Katya is one talented teacher and chorographer in her own right.
Neils routines were forgettable, and Alex was much improved during her time with Kevin in comparison to being part of the Neil show.
