I suppose one interesting thing about the line up is there is no clear front runner.
Hamza had an exceptional cracking dance and is for very good reasons extremely popular. But that is one dance. Hope he can maintain it as he is so good.
Tyler is obviously good but I don't think Dianne is the greatest choreographer 😬 could bring him down.
Helen is yet to fulfil her full potential - always holding something back. But I do think she has something.
Fleur is a contender definitely. Very good.
Will is definitely good but so bloody moany and overthinking it may work against him.
Mollie not sure - I just find her a bit bland and actually switch off when she dances tbh.

Ones I think are out of the running to win are:
Kym (I just don't think her heart is in it).
Both Ellies (Too much to make up compared to others)
Jayde (A bit of a one trick pony so far).
James (Ditto Ellies)
Tony (Love him and hope he gets to Blackpool)

Don’t be upset at being voted out… here’s a knitted doll to help the tears 😂

Will is moody. Granted he wasn't well this week, but he could bring a lot of fun and joy if he just stopped taking it all so bloody personally. He definitely has great potential.

Hamza is pure joy.
Did anyone have Will as this year's Caroline quentin? I always enjoy it when someone takes the whole thing too and can't take criticism. At the first
Wonder if this week will be easier? 🤞
Isn't it interesting that 4 people were sick but only one made a fuss about it

Personally I'm absolutely gutted no one is doing a waltz to dogtanian

I want to like Jayde but between her and Will its becoming whats supposed to be a fun lighthearted dance show become something so serious.

If the scores continue as they are and she gets to do a Couple’s Choice, I wonder what her ‘story’ will be? I wonder if they’re told it’s meant to be a sob story (for want of a better term) because if it wasn’t, you’d think Tyler’s would be about becoming a DJ or something like that

There are two receptions to Jayde’s emotional story on Saturday - on the one hand, people found it exploitative and over the top as if she was manipulating the audience to feel sorry for her. On the other hand, there are people who connected with her sense of grief. I have a friend who tragically lost her little girl when she was only four and referenced Jayde's speech in particular, asking those who knew her daughter to say her name. It's a tough one. I don't think there's a right way or a wrong way to grieve and a stiff upper lip "don't mention it" doesn't help everyone. That's a balanced POV as I'm lucky enough to be somebody who hasn't experienced much loss in my life.
I absolutely wouldn’t not want to hear about someone’s loss because it’s a huge part of your life and changes who you are - I lost my mum at 18, my dad at 28. Because I’m cynical though, I would question anyone who brings that up of an average week. My post above will be linked to this now - what if she makes it to Couple’s Choice?

I don’t follow her and never have, maybe she talks about her sister all the time. But I don’t think I’m alone in thinking it was brought up for the benefit of votes and Karen needs - imo - stop ‘booping’ Jayde’s nose and try and get her improving.

If you contrast that to Kym - I don’t always watch ITT but Rylan brought up that her dad has just finished a section of cancer treatment. I think she would be ripped to shreds if she’d brought it up in rehearsals or VTs.

This is a good summary. Hamza definitely has the edge right now so it will be interesting to see how he does over the next few weeks. I've seen a few comparisons with Bill Bailey, and I can see why, but a lot of Bill's momentum was also down to a 'wouldn't it be mad and brilliant if THE Bill Bailey won Strictly?!' vibe as well as him being a decent dancer. Hamza is coming across so well though, so I can easily see him building on this

The top 4 in terms of popularity over the last couple of weeks seem to be Hamza, Will, Helen and Tyler, but Mollie could knock any of them out in a dance off even if she's not that popular, and possibly Fleur too

As much as I like Hamza, I'm hoping it's not done and dusted just yet, only because I want a REAL competition this year

A smoochy dance to 'Every Loser Wins' by Nick Berry and something marchy to 'Mysterious Cities of Gold' which I won't be able to watch as the wave of nostalgia and a wish to return to simpler times would make me cry. Even if Luba danced it.
Oh I used to be able to sing all the words to ' Mysterious cities of Gold' I lived that programme! Wasn't it an American import though, so not really a BBC theme

I absolutely hate the attitude of admiring people for holding it together when they are feeling something intensely.

I think everyone is being a bot cruel to Jayde.
I know you're all bored of the strictly super fan schtick but if any of us went on it we'd be the same; getting excited about the whole experience, fawning of a "dahling" from Craig. She used to watch Strictly with her sister and they were both massive fans so obviously she wants to pay tribute to her. And dancing to Wind Beneath my Wings, the song from the film about two best friends, one of whom is dying of cancer, is obviously going to bring up a lot of feeling for her. Same with facing the awful comments she's facing. She didn't mention her size until she started getting tit for it online.

Matt didn't bring up any of his emotional pain but maybe that's because he couldn't hold it together if he did or because it was more of a personal test of strength for himself. And it's different with Kym and Helen because they're going through big stuff *now*.

Tony cried twice on Saturday and no one is giving out about playing with people's emotions.

Stuff the british stiff upper lip crap. Seeing people feel their feelings great!

Except most people watch the show to be entertained not depressed. Yes it's great that Jayde is able to express her feelings of loss but do we really need to see it on a light entertainment show which I personally watch as a form of escapism and not to be reminded of all my own personal loss.

I don't remember it being as bad as it is this year for the sob stories 😕

I’m conflicted … but if I’m honest coming down on the side of Saturday was a bit much all in all.

That sort of thing was supposed to be what Couple’s Choice was for but on Saturday we had 3 unofficial CC’s with Jayde, Will and Tony and for a show that’s supposed to be sparkly fun it was dipping into, oh no not again territory. Just do a bop and a twirl to a song that means nothing to you for Pete’s sake.

Having said that, I feel a bit sorry for Molly that her CC is going to see her have to pretend that she’s thrilled to be dressed in school uniform running about to the theme tune of a programme she has no connection with because it finished when she was 8.

Ashley Roberts springs to mind. She was celebrated for talking about grief and loss.

I love the glitz and glam but I also love seeing people being human. I don't see them as sob stories, I see them life events that make up part of who these people are. I kind of like being taken by surprise and finding myself crying at a glittery, silly dancing show. Like I did over Tony 😭

They can't win in a lot of ways. If they just go on and do their dances and have a chat they're boring, like Kym. If they share something personal, they're manipulative.

Saturday was just came across as a bit one upmanship though … I see your mental health awareness and I raise you addiction … I see your addiction and I raise you a deceased family member … I see all that but my partner is having a tough time but doesn’t want to mention it … yes, but my celeb also had a cold … and all Tyler could bring to his CC was a nice family who weren’t there and some fish and chips.

I think Helen might have a Big Breakthrough (tm) - there is a lot of public support behind her, she just needs a #moment.
I am not so sure about Molly - she has Pixie Lott written all over her. I think Ellie S. has a shot at the final - again, popular, obvious backstory, people like Nikita.. Fleur I think will be tripped up by her technique in ballroom - I can see Shirleygate mark II rolling around again (unless she really steps it up and they bring it every week).

Agree with the rest.

For the Katya/Vito fans/shippers (erm, me) - enjoyed this clip of them rehearsing their pro dance bit. Always seems weird that the pros give it so much welly in the dances and we don't see most of them properly!
