I cannot remember, but when Lisa Riley danced, did she make a thing about her size? I remember her as being very good, and she must have put a lot of hard work in because she shed pounds. I don’t think being overweight (am I still allowed to use that word ) is a hindrance to being able to dance well, but perhaps being on the heavy side bone-wise is. On a previous post I made it obvious I knew nothing about Jayde, had never heard of her, so presumed she was gay because she was dancing with a woman. I went to an all-girl school, and when it came to learning to dance, I was heartbroken for the bigger girls who had to take the part of the man. It must have crushed their self esteem. So for a woman to ask to undertake the traditionally male role is beyond my comprehension. I daresay younger women on here will say this is all bollocks, but we are products of our time and I was in school in the sixties.
I think she mentioned wanting to show that big girls can dance which is fair enough imo cos I remember on the launch show when the judges were asked who they thought would do well Craig just said 'good luck' in a deadpan way when it came to Lisa which tbh is probably what we were all thinking but she certainly showed everyone! I don't think it was her entire 'storyline' though

I don’t think it’s beyond the realms of possibility him winning and it certainly would shake things up! Thinking of other people in AA, especially in their early days of recovery, people really struggle with dealing with every day life and while so many externals are different, Tony is so open about his gratitude and the fact that one day at a time, you can turn your life around. And seeing that life isn’t all doom and gloom is a great example too.

And this is a real step outside his comfort zone. Has he said why he’s doing it this year? It’s probably not the first year they’ve asked and I doubt it’s financial (I read his wife is heir to a whiskey distillery, ironically but that doesn’t mean they’re set for life right now I guess).

For me, I would love it if he won but I’m not sure he will. If Tony went out before Jayde, James and Ellie T, I’d be really disappointed.
