On a previous post I made it obvious I knew nothing about Jayde, had never heard of her, so presumed she was gay because she was dancing with a woman. I went to an all-girl school, and when it came to learning to dance, I was heartbroken for the bigger girls who had to take the part of the man. It must have crushed their self esteem. So for a woman to ask to undertake the traditionally male role is beyond my comprehension. I daresay younger women on here will say this is all bollocks, but we are products of our time and I was in school in the sixties.

Someone once told me there is no such thing as big boned.

Anyway I dont think Tony will go as he's fun and people seem to like him.

If I had the time and energy I'd start a campaign. I'm sure the arsenal fan clubs are on it.

Someone mentioned earlier how well he takes criticism compared to whingebag will and it's true he does. But 20+ of counselling plus having a manager roar at you for missing a pass will do that to you!
 
I wonder if another pro (male or female) would be getting more movement out of jayde ? Karen’s lovely and she did wonders with Jamie biscuits and had some great dances with Charles Venn but she does seem to be letting Jayde get away with the absolute bare minimum (at least that’s the impression I get maybe she’s as pissed off as we are and tearing her hair out at home ranting to Jordan and the dogs about her)

It would be interesting to see how she would fair in a dance off. Will might have a an attitude problem but he’s a much better dancer and I’d be pissed if we lost someone who can actually dance over someone who is just coasting on a shuffle.

I've no issue with Tony winning either. Especially as the judges were so bloody rude to him a couple of weeks ago - not even giving him or Katya the courtesy of a reasoned critique but just openly laughing and mocking them.

I haven't seen any training footage but I really hope it isn't the case of Karen mainly dancing around Jayde again. Not good enough at this stage. And if that really is the limit of her capabilities she needs to go. Unlike Tony I haven't seen any improvement in Jayde from week one. Do the judges ever comment on her footwork or anything much technical? Always seems to be about how emotional it is.

I watched a couple of videos with Allison Hammond and Aljaz. I got the impression he pushed her more than Karen is with Jayde.
I know you can't compare people just because they may be a similarish size, everyone is different, but their routines just had more Oomph and fun to them.
ETA and they seemed to hover around the 5 and 6 marks from judges. Back in the day of Darcey, Len and Bruno.

It is a shame Jayde has been overly emotional and, you know, not that good of a dancer, because I think that message would have been powerful if she kind of stuck to that as her purpose on the show. (If she was better)

I liked Jayde's message in movie week, knowing the awful comments bigger people, especially women, can get about their bodies I think it was brave of her to go out in that costume- I mean, even a lot of 'conventionally attractive' women would be hesitant to wear that on primetime TV. But I think the message would have been a lot better if she hadn't talked about it and instead just gone out and danced- that would clearly show people that she is confident in herself and her body, but I think drawing attention to it made it seem forced

Are the celebs or dancers privy to the number or percentage of the votes they get each week, or is that a closely guarded BBC secret that Dave Thorpe would sell his first-born child to get access to?

Just wondering, from the tone of certain interviews and Twitter threads I suspect the Arsenal vote behind Tony is perhaps even more substantial than we have imagined.

Also, thank you for linking that immortal Wuthering Heights dance: her joyfully grinning her way through the dance as the doomed Catherine is perhaps not the best acting in the world, but it was hilarious and gave us this:

Didn't she end up in the dance off with that? And there was a whole thing where the arms kept getting caught on Aljaz's head and she couldn't stop laughing afterwards? I remember a video going round kind of like an outtake from the dance off and she had everyone in fits because she couldn't stop laughing 😂

fully agree with this.

i’m also interested to see how that song gets adapted for an early evening crowd - the original lyrics are filthy (in a gently funny way) 🤣

as soon as jayde gets in a dance off she’s gone imo: there’s no one there who she’s better than. unless the judges completely lose their minds.

re tony: i think he’ll go further than anyone (including himself) expects but i just can’t see him actually winning.
