Someone once told me there is no such thing as big boned.I cannot remember, but when Lisa Riley danced, did she make a thing about her size? I remember her as being very good, and she must have put a lot of hard work in because she shed pounds. I don’t think being overweight (am I still allowed to use that word ) is a hindrance to being able to dance well, but perhaps being on the heavy side bone-wise is. On a previous post I made it obvious I knew nothing about Jayde, had never heard of her, so presumed she was gay because she was dancing with a woman. I went to an all-girl school, and when it came to learning to dance, I was heartbroken for the bigger girls who had to take the part of the man. It must have crushed their self esteem. So for a woman to ask to undertake the traditionally male role is beyond my comprehension. I daresay younger women on here will say this is all bollocks, but we are products of our time and I was in school in the sixties.
I'd love a bit of chaos and for Tony to win. duck them it's time they shuck things up again. The show takes itself too seriously.
If I had the time and energy I'd start a campaign. I'm sure the arsenal fan clubs are on it.I have no issue with Tony winning - it would be the biggest duck you to the overmarking, overtraining, sob story pushing earnest yet trying to be fun vehicle the show has become.
He was talking about George Graham who was manager during his wild days of drinking and imprisonment. He did say when he was on ITT that one of his managers had prepared him for Katya’s discipline. I don’t know Gunners history so meant nothing to me.
I've no issue with Tony winning either. Especially as the judges were so bloody rude to him a couple of weeks ago - not even giving him or Katya the courtesy of a reasoned critique but just openly laughing and mocking them.I have no issue with Tony winning - it would be the biggest duck you to the overmarking, overtraining, sob story pushing earnest yet trying to be fun vehicle the show has become.
Something in me dies each time I see that nose bop
I watched a couple of videos with Allison Hammond and Aljaz. I got the impression he pushed her more than Karen is with Jayde.I wonder if another pro (male or female) would be getting more movement out of jayde ? Karen’s lovely and she did wonders with Jamie biscuits and had some great dances with Charles Venn but she does seem to be letting Jayde get away with the absolute bare minimum (at least that’s the impression I get maybe she’s as pissed off as we are and tearing her hair out at home ranting to Jordan and the dogs about her)
I liked Jayde's message in movie week, knowing the awful comments bigger people, especially women, can get about their bodies I think it was brave of her to go out in that costume- I mean, even a lot of 'conventionally attractive' women would be hesitant to wear that on primetime TV. But I think the message would have been a lot better if she hadn't talked about it and instead just gone out and danced- that would clearly show people that she is confident in herself and her body, but I think drawing attention to it made it seem forcedI think the difference now is that we're trying to move away from fat being a bad thing and that fat is just a description not a slur or an insult. And because fat girls in school were told they couldn't do this that and the other it's more empowering to own it and be like, I'm too big to be lifted but duck it, I can do the lifts. When Lisa did it everyone would have been afraid to mention her size until it came to praising her for her weight loss. 1That kind of praise on anyone always made me feel uncomfortable because I remember Louisa Lyton who was miniscule as it was being praise by, I think it was Arlene, for losing weight. Not good.
The idea that Jayde puts forward in general seems to be that it doesn't matter if she's fat, and it doesn't. Some awful people have too many opinions about other people's bodies as the comments under her videos will show.
It is a shame Jayde has been overly emotional and, you know, not that good of a dancer, because I think that message would have been powerful if she kind of stuck to that as her purpose on the show. (If she was better)
Their Halloween Wuthering Heights is a Strictly classicI watched a couple of videos with Allison Hammond and Aljaz. I got the impression he pushed her more than Karen is with Jayde.
I know you can't compare people just because they may be a similarish size, everyone is different, but their routines just had more Oomph and fun to them.
ETA and they seemed to hover around the 5 and 6 marks from judges. Back in the day of Darcey, Len and Bruno.
Helen sticking it to the producers and the judges (in a good way. Not a will way)

Just don't think Jayde can dance and she certainly isn't light on her toes at all.
Tonight's dance will be interesting and let's hope the judges words and scores reflect that.
