Shirley has posted a clip of her son dancing on DWTS to The Simpsons theme. I'm pretty sure it's exactly rhe same choreography as Dianne and Max- yet no one has mentioned this in her comments! Anyone else noticed this? I'm sure Shirley was on the show when Max was there as he would be right up her street!! <sorry to go a bit off topic of tonight's show>

I watched that dance this week (not through choice, my children love the D’Amelios so they insisted we watch it) but didn’t recognise the choreography. However that is most likely because my brain has erased every microsecond of the Max & Dianne nightmare.

edit: in an act of complete masochism, I just watched Max & Dianne’s to compare. It’s completely different choreography apart from the can-can kicks, which are taken from the Simpson’s opening credits. And it’s even more awful than I remembered. At one point he blows her leg like a sexy saxophone. 🫤

I've put myself through both dances (why???) and Charli & Mark's one is different. You'd never see Max & Dianne do some of the pirouettes that Charli & Mark did. Charli is a far better dancer than Max and I also think Mark is better than Dianne at silly choreo, it's very much his specialty.

That dance by Max & Dianne is flipping awful though.

Mark has done some really creative dances on DWTS, his Super Mario freestyle he did with Sadie Robertson is one of my favourites.

Eww, no! Stop it right now!!!

Thank you @glasgow27 and @ButtonDownTheHutches 👏👏 -it was the kicks that reminded me of the Max and Dianne dance. O god - I'd forgotten the saxophone 🎷 leg 🙈. Great research- going to check out the supermario dance @louseylou to cleanse my mind. 🍄

This is it, I had to go back and watch it after bringing it up. I know Derek was the golden boy on DWTS but I always preferred Mark. Sadie was 16 or 17 when she did the show and she seems to come from quite a conservative family so her routines always had to be family appropriate.

Used to love DWTS when it used to be shown on one of the sky channels.

Shirley's ex husband Corky with Cloris Leachman was fantastic 😂😂😂

I'm surprised Mark is still dancing on the show. Especially seeing as Derek and Julianne Hough have seemed to move on (couldn't stand Derek - American version of Grimsby Kevin)

Mark only came back this year and Derek's a judge now. I think one of the old producer's came back and that's part of the reason Mark came back. And totally agree, Derek is the American Kevin.

Yes - the original producer came back.

Derek was so over-promoted as a pro on DWTS, it was ridiculous. Kevin Clifton x100. Even as a judge, he gets over promoted and has to bring in his girlfriend (who was a troupe dancer and never got promoted to pro) for a routine each season.

Then again, I didn't care for many of their male pros, Mark tried to be too edgy a lot of the time and then just seemed a bit stroppy in his last few seasons (think he got frustrated at losing a few finals and had a couple of partners he wasn't keen on) and the Chmerkovskiy brothers Make & Val never endeared themselves to me either (Val is still there, he reminds me of Giovanni).

Yeah, the Chmerkoskiy's could definitely come across a bit arrogant or something, though I did really appreciate them not being afraid to say what they really thought about Abby Lee Miller being a guest judge. I will say though, they, Maks especially, seem to have done a lot to help with sending supplies and everything over to Ukraine. I remember at the time everything started over there Maks was actually in Ukraine as he'd been a judge on the Ukrainian version of DWTS, he did a lot of instagram lives and posts about what was happening over there. From what I see on their instagrams Maks seems to have softened a bit but I could definitely imagine Val still being a bit arrogant, I will forever say that Zendaya should have won her season and not Kellie though.

I actually don't know how well some of their pros would translate onto Strictly, though Tristan was a very good addition.

I like James, he comes across as a likeable guy.

I admit I fast forwarded through most of the talky bits of the show, including his wife and kids apparently arriving to watch him practising. I have to smile though at what he said at the beginning of the series about winning, mentioning previous competitors from the Eastenders cast.

I forget the exact words, but he is nowhere near the standard of Davood 🔥, Scott or Jake - imo.

Matt has been tweeting a little bit tonight.
I thought this one was lovely.

(Btw has anyone ever danced to Morecambe and Wise Bring Me Sunshine? That would be good. Especially for the dreaded Beeb week).
