It must be horrid for a celeb to get an obviously under-invested pro, who is just paying lip service it. it’s a once only thing for a celeb, and the pro’s are being paid to get them to reach their potential and have as good an experience as possible. It’s one thing to check out in private, but it is rather rude to obviously check out in public.

Yeah, I think he definitely was less invested, and then didn't get along very well on top of it. Then cue dance of death in fursuits, can't entirely blame him for checking out. I'd like to think if they'd scraped through he would have gotten his head back in the game and produced something good this week, assuming they would have had a dance better suited than a Samba.

It was such a weird comedown after that brilliant Quickstep he did for Richie, when it seemed like they'd gelled and "arrived" as a pairing.

Sometimes the click just isn't there. Personally I think Gio was irritated by Richie and couldn't get past it. I like Gio but I also think he knows how to play the game. If the public had taken to Richie like they did Rose I've no doubt Gio would've been way more tolerant of Richie and 'nice' to him.

Regardless of whether he couldn’t get past it or not, he’s a professional and it’s his job and in my opinion he should have acted better.

See I find that hard to believe when the QS was a fantastic routine in terms of choreography and demanding content at that stage, which Richie did well, suggesting Gio had invested the teaching time and effort. The actual steps that were done in the Samba, Richie did quite well, again, suggesting the instruction had gone on. I don't think they had any chemistry when they danced and I thought Giovanni was subdued - but, given how lively Richie was, a firecracker would seem subdued by contrast - but I find it hard to say Giovanni didn't teach and produce two decent dances out of 3 for his celeb.
 
As much as I like Rose, I will never understand these kinds of nauseating comments. Can people give it a rest now, it's been nearly a year...

And the moment the dance was over, Gio turned to the audience in triumph, leaving Richie high and dry.

I dunno, he always looked barely present to me. I think most pros can manage to get workman like dance out of a celeb with a modicum of ability and that’s what their dances looked like to me 🤷‍♀️

I just wonder if Ritchie was a late replacement and another celeb had been lined up for the same sex/Gio partnership but withdrew late doors.

Completely agree but I also think the bigger part of the relationship working and being successful is based on them clicking. Must be so hard to bring out the best in a person if you don't actually like them and being forced to spend hours and hours with them.

I thought it was interesting that Richie was expected to subdue his enthusiasm and his personality in order to succeed..that can't have been easy. Ellie is a chatterbox and whilst Nikita has acknowledged that fact he is still allowing her to be herself..

I thought it was interesting that to some expecting Gio to ’cope’ with that level of enthusiasm and exuberance was thought to be impossible.

Yes, still baffled by him addressing the rumours head on, which I totally didn't expect him to do, I thought they'd just ignore them, but then totally undermining it now. Why? So strange. lol, who knows, perhaps he just gets a kick out of trolling.
 
Grumpy me thinks that Gio is an utter arrogant tw*t who thinks he is better than the show and deserves to be respected for what a wonderful dancer he is - the celeb he gets is just an appendage to his own self-promotion...

And then there's the less grumpy me who gives him the benefit of the doubt - he hasn't got time to be leaving SM messages and he's not the kind of guy who posts things on Insta every 5 mins - I'm sure he and Ritchie got on fine...

Tbh grumpy me is me 95% of the time
