it honestly makes you wonder if maybe there really is bad blood between them? that they didn't get on, or Gio resented him for some reason, or Richie was unprofessional? To not muster a single insta story for him is crap.
I think he was the kind of gay that he didn't want. Richie could be camp and daft and Gio wanted strong and smouldering like John. Bad form.

Well I suppose if you believe the Sun articles, he was difficult to teach. Still seems like a bit of an overreaction though? 🤷‍♀️

I dunno, Gio's pretty campy himself 😂

I think it's more that he couldn't dance well, nor effectively convey any tone other than childlike enthusiasm.

I imagine if he got a duffer or an unconventionally attractive woman, he would have given them the same treatment as Richie.

Wouldn't shock me TBH - would mean he isn't the asset to the show that DS like to portray him as if he'd turn his nose up at a partner who didn't fit the right criteria for him. At least Kai was respectful to Kaye.

If he comes back next year - a Widdecombe or a Fiona Phillips who looks OK on paper but has zero ability. Let's see which one annoys him more.

I'm perfectly open to believing Gio can behave like an arrogant, self-absorbed pr*ck but aren't we rather falling into the same habits as the daft shippers we make fun of, reading so much into social media posts or lack thereof? I struggle with the whole concept that performative posts on SM in any way reflect genuine interactions between people who know each other and have private means of communicating.

It is performative, but it's really just courtesy and manners for the pros to do it. I don't think anybody would be making anything of it if he had a history of never posting about his partners, but in the past he has.

I absolutely agree … and really wanted Kai to send Nadiya something like ‘have you put the bins out, love?’ When there were complaints they couldn’t be a proper couple because they didn’t interact on social media … but it seems for Strictly there are accepted things that are done as a matter of routine … and a nice exit post and a happy birthday post seem to be almost part of the contractual obligations … so when someone doesn’t do them it almost looks more pointed than if they’d just done as non-committal one as they could get away with.

Kai acted perfectly with Kaye. He knew she wasn’t going to be a great dancer so gave her choreo she could manage and made sure she had a great time, the way she speaks of him is very telling and they clearly had a great bond despite it only being short. The same can’t be said about his best mate sadly 🤷🏻‍♀️

TBF Gio was lovely with Ranvir - who on paper was a duffer. He brought out a lot in her and they had a great bond (despite whatever happened after). It makes me wonder if post-Rose he just couldn't really be arsed, combined with him and Richie not gelling at all.

True, Ranvir was awful in the launch show dance. I remember thinking, 'Gio's got his first duffer,' and then she improved remarkably. Not sure how much was just nerves during the first recorded dance, and how much was Gio.

Yeah, I think he definitely was less invested, and then didn't get along very well on top of it. Then cue dance of death in fursuits, can't entirely blame him for checking out. I'd like to think if they'd scraped through he would have gotten his head back in the game and produced something good this week, assuming they would have had a dance better suited than a Samba.
