I don't necessarily mind them branching out to influencers and youtubers, especially if it diversifies the audience a bit and gets younger people into it. Celebrity is a subjective term really and it depends what type of content you consume and your own interests. For example, I've heard of Tilly Ramsey but wouldn't have been able to put Greg Wise' face to the name at all. You're not always gonna know everyone on there but that's half the fun, getting to know people and their personalities!

People are always gonna say "who", just to be dicks. The BBC page announcing Greg has comments of people going "who". And quite honestly, Greg is quite a big name for Strictly. Been in some big films/shows (and some shite, the less said about him singing in carcrash jukebox musical Walking on Sunshine the better. He made Pierce Brosnan in Mamma Mia seem good)

I think it wouldn't be so bad if they'd chosen a social media star who had actually built a large following and needed some exposure. Tillys famous father has undoubtedly help her build a following and of all social media stars out there, to choose a child of a celebrity just seems a bit lazy. Probably be brooklyn Beckham next year

Yeah Greg Wise came across badly on Bake off very competitive/ conceited, obviously will have had loads of private lessons in preparation for Strictly.

Confirmed Celebrities so far - to be 15 in total
1 ) Tom Fletcher - 36 : McFly Pop Star
His wife, Giovanna won I’m a Celeb last year.
2 ) Robert Webb - 48 : Comedian/ Actor
3 ) AJ Odudu - 33 : TV Presenter
4 ) John Whaite - 32 : Chef won GBBO ‘12
5 ) Rhys Stephenson - 28 : CBBC Presenter
6 ) Sara Davis - 37: Dragons’ Den Star
7 ) Katie McGlynn - 28 : Actress - Corrie
8 ) Dan Walker - 44 : BBC Breakfast Presenter
9 ) Tilly Ramsay - 19 : CBBC Chef / TikTok
influencer - daughter of Gordon
10 ) Greg Wise - 55 : Actor - The Crown etc,
Husband of Emma Thompson

As it’s rumoured to be 8 men & 7 women this year. 2 Men & 3 Women to be revealed. Who do you think is left? Women 🤷🏽‍♀️
Ugo Monye - 38 : Question of Sport Team Presenter & Retired England Rugby Player - rumoured by The Sun maybe true as they were correct about Tilly Ramsay. So I think the final guy will be younger in his early /mid 20s as Rhys is youngest guy at 28, the other men are in their 30s, 40s & 50s. Maybe an Olympian & from outside of England - No Welsh, Scottish or Irish so far in line up unusually.

I'm just thinking that all the men so far are quite tall and there's only 2 taller pros which makes me think both Nadiya and Luba will have partners

Who's Greg Wise?
GOOGLE IT, YOU CRETIN
To be fair, I'm white, middle class & female so maybe much more likely to have watched Sense & Sensibility and I can't actually remember seeing him in anything else 🤣 but STILL ...
I want Hugh Grant on Strictly, but it will never happen. Actually I think I want Hugh from 5-10 years ago 🤣 I'd also like to see Greg Davies on Strictly!

I can’t believe there are people complaining that they don’t know who Greg Wise is! He’s an actual film actor and husband of Emma Thompson FFS. I sometimes wonder who these Karen’s on social media expect? The Queen, Donald Trump and Lionel Messi were obviously too busy 🙄

The only person is the last few years that I've genuinely thought, 'WHO???' is Emma Weymouth. And then I googled her and nope, she's still definitely not a celeb 😆. But yep, those I haven't heard of, I get why they've been booked - CBBC presenter, youtuber etc - they have an audience (although I still think YouTubers make boring contestants, but that's a whole other issue).

Greg Wise has an imdb page a mile long and is married to a multiple Oscar-winning A-lister. Even if some people haven't heard of him, he is a definitely a known celeb ha

Kind of depends, because I’d argue Michelle Williams was a BIG DEAL but had no support. Emma Bunton, equally huge amounts of fame. Guess it depends who you ask 🤷🏻‍♀️
Ah I’d forgotten about Michelle Williams! I felt sorry for her, as you say no support - I don’t think we got to see anything close to what she was capable to do.

And although it was a few years after her prime, Wimbledon winner Martina Hingis was quite a big deal. Her dancing - not so much
