Agreed. Contractual obligations had them there I'd imagine. Poor AJ was not her glam, bubbly self.

Janette acting as if everything is going to be fine on Saturday was bizarre, although I'm sure she was instructed to keep to the script.

If AJ manages to dance live for three high energy dances with limited training time I'll be astounded! Won't it be a bit of a risk to have her dancing live? She said intense pain came on really suddenly and she projectile vomited as a result when it happened.

It'll be uncomfortable watching her dance if she does on Saturday knowing she's in pain.

In regards to celebs and previous experience some people have different opinions as to what counts and what doesn’t. This isn’t helped when fans have agendas against certain celebs. It’s very hard to find people in the entertainment industry who’ve not had some degree of dance training at some point in their lives.

However I don’t think it’s really fair or correct to yell ringer at someone who took a few dance classes as a child/teen. Some people tried to call bill a ringer with unfair experience because he had a tiny handful of ballroom classes when he was 14/15.

Someone like Ashley Roberts/Darcy Bussell did have some degree of an unfair advantage as they did have levels of experience more than the others and had been professional dancers in the past. As would anyone else who’s been in theatre and been through stage/theatre school. There’s a massive difference to some community room dance classes when your 7 for a hobby to the intense environment of pre-professional school. There’s 1000’s of adults across the country who had some dance lessons as a child. There’d be no show if you excluded anyone who’d ever had one or two dance lessons at some point in their lives.

Rubbish if AJ and Kai can’t dance 😢 but all the AJ stans will say she was ‘robbed’ and that she’d have won if she could perform.. when we all know Rose is going to win ..

I vaguely remembered something happening with Kara Tointon so looked it up. She tore ligaments in her arm during her showdance and danced two dances after but went to hospital after the show. She said it was so painful! Poor AJ, it being her foot makes it so much worse.

I don't want to be a pessimist, but I just can't see how AJ will be able to manage on Saturday. And even if she drags herself to the dancefloor, surely it was be irresponsible for the BBC to let her take part and risk doing permanent damage or collapsing in pain?

I'm absolutely devastated for her. Hoping somehow she can manage something on Saturday, but not at risk to her wellbeing

I don't see how the BBC will allow AJ to take part and risk further damage. In sports, if a person is injured and you allow them to continue to play you are liable as you are the one in charge. The person who is injured may not be in the correct frame of mind at the time to make the correct decision so responsibility lies with you as their manager/coach.

It can take up to six weeks for ligaments to heal. Will she even be able to do the tour? (Not sure when that starts!)

My posts are overly pessimistic and the final will be less without AJ but after that interview I just can't see how she will be able to dance!

this is a thing that always bugs me when the public talk about this show - and i’ve had strong conversations with people in work about it too 🤣 ultimately a lot of people take dance lessons as children. the majority of the young actors and actresses they want on this show will have been to stage school. it doesn’t make them “trained dancers”. however, once the public get that in their minds about a contestant then there’s no way they can win.

the ultimate trained dancer on this show was debbie mcgee, who was an actual professional ballet dancer though no one ever mentioned it 🤷🏼‍♀️

I'm worried she will try to push through it on Saturday and really damage herself. Realistically, if she can't even weight bear there's no way she will be able to dance on that foot by Saturday without intense pain. It really isn't worth it.
Right now she probably wants to dance and can’t bear to give up - but it’s very unlikely she can dance on Saturday. And how do they give her scores? It wouldn’t be fair as she wouldn’t acquit herself well and it would upset everyone - both if they marked her accurately or if they gave her pity points. Just awful.

All we can hope is that the tour goes ahead ( and not clobbered by covid lockdowns) and they get the chance to perform these dances again there. I think that is all that can be hoped for at this stage. Not sure I can watch the final without them in it :(

I am glad I bought tour tickets now. I am sure if she pulls out then she will bring the house down at those big venues and win many of the dates.

First date is 20th of Jan so might be enough time to heal. If they have to I am sure they will let her miss some of the early dates.

Nearly cried watching her she’s my winner!

I suspect I will cry for her on Saturday night if she isn't there and even if she is I will be so worried for her.

this worries me too but i think (as someone said upthread, i missed your name sorry!) that there will be a point where the bbc would probably step in and say no. ultimately no one wants to see someone clearly in pain trying to go through a routine and they have a duty of care to her to ensure it doesn’t get worse :(

I suspect Friday will be the day of reckoning Strictly's Dr will have to sign off on it.

On her recent instagram post she says she wont be able to rehearse before the final, I think everyone involved knows she simply won't be able to do it at all.
