Really feel sorry for whoever gets lumbered with Tom. He’s on tour with the band for the lead up to the first live show and into the lead up for live show 2. I just don’t see how he’s able to properly commit to either. Is his partner just supposed to follow him around ? I’m just super surprised both producers and band managers have agreed to this. I mean what if we get another jamie Laing or
Will situation and be injured himself jumping around on stage ☹️ Poor pro could end up partnerless.

So the dancing isn’t starting until the 18th, I wonder why they’d need a studio audience on the 11th

It’s a strange decision. When he was revealed on The One Show, he said he’d known since December so it’s not as if he decided on a whim to do Strictly. And it’s not as if he’s an A-lister the Beeb would be dying to keep a hold of, surely!

The launch show is being pre-recorded on the 11th and then broadcast on the 18th, with the first live show a week later

I think they're starting to record all the meet up VTs this week or next

I’m sure I remember the BBC used to show DWTS I wonder if they lost the rights?
I know the Spice Girls were massive but surely Mel C still has more pull in the UK than the US.

DWTS is basically owned by the BBC (since BBC created the franchise) so I'm not sure if that's the case.

I think it's a money thing as she'd turned down SCD due to the low fee before. Mel B was also very successful on DWTS whereas Emma Bunton wasn't as good on SCD so maybe a better opportunity?
 
ABC (who air the show) have Disney money so the budget is always going to be bigger. (Hence Bruno choosing them over us because he can get a lot more money)
Despite what some people might say SCD line ups are usually fairly decent. I usually find DWTS filled with gimmicks, reality filler and only one or two properly decent names. I mean would the bbc have signed up Carol baskin if tiger king had been set in the uk ? I really doubt it. We might do some awful gimmicky dances at the start of the series but at least we’ve stayed away from five minute viral wonders.

The way the way pros are allegedly paid is awful though newer pros get $1200(£865) per episode more established and returning pros can get up to $5000(£3606) per episode. At least on strictly most of the pros get the same (I believe it was only Anton who got a slightly higher rate of pay which is understandable)

I think there are some people who’ve done strictly purely to get paid/boost their profile. But I think some do it just as a fun thing to do and because they want to learn a new skill. The money and exposure is just a bonus.
I find American reality talent shows a lot more money focused than UK ones. There’s prize money in so many shows that they can’t understand why so many of ours don’t (think bake off and it’s other crafty spin offs)
 
I see Neil's ex is trying to make a quick buck by selling her story. I could be wrong but didn't the Sun actually find out she was cheating while he was away? Could explain the paranoia love
