As much as she kind of irritates me I really hope Amy is okay if she’s having a flare up or is ill. I don’t suppose touring with Tom is going help either. That’s a though schedule especially if you’re not 100%. I do agree the bleach blonde isn’t the nicest hair on her especially when it’s been big and curly.

Totally agreed - hoping she's in the best health possible for the series.

I already wrote this when the spoiler was released but I'd thought i'd wait til the show was finished to post it because I wanted to see their first interactions with each other and get a feel of what they'll be like together.

Thoughts on the couples:

Adam Peaty and Katya Jones
- Well Katya now has an actual contender since her win in 2017; I wonder if the public will love Adam enough to vote for their partnership after the whole ''kiss gate'' scandal. We know that Katya can be creative, I just wonder as Adam being a sportsman they are always a challenge as they are moving their bodies in a way which they never have been before regardless of their athletic ability. I think out of all the female pros Katya can find a way around it.

AJ Odudu and Kai Widdrington - She seems nice I just wonder if the ''loudness'' may put people off or may work in her favour ala Stacey Dooley. Kai doesn't seem like a major personality; I saw some clips of him on DWTS Ireland and he seems like his strength comes more in the teaching aspect. Potentially a 'romance storyline' partnership; couldn't see a trace of a partner from her online and Kai is single.

Dan Walker and Nadiya Bychkova - Nice to see Nadiya back (I prefer her to Luba) Dan I don't see getting too far; I know he has been a rumoured contestant for years now but I feel he's going to be of a non entity really; maybe the likeable factor might get him further.

Greg Wise and Karen Hauer - Nice to see he seems well up for it; probably his friend Bill Bailey doing it last year gave up the push to do it; as always with the 'older' contestants I feel he will do better in the ballroom than the latin.

John Whaite and Johannes Radebe - First of all I was surprised that this was the partnership as I felt it was too obvious; I think Graziano would have been more of an exciting choice however I'm happy we can see a same sex partnership again. It'll be interesting to see how far they go; I know Nicola's time on the show was cut short last year due to Katya getting Covid but I feel it wouldn't have been a long run for her anyway after having to hear the ''Yeah baby I'm a dancer'' every week. John seems more capable than Nicola.

Judi Love and Graziano Di Prima - A little surprising as I was expecting Graziano to be paired with John however the producers probably thought because the last full series he did in 2018 he got paired with Vick Hope they probably thought he should be with an older woman this year. He also has said previously he really enjoyed his partnership in the christmas special in 2019 with Chizzy. Judi is up for a laugh so this could be a really fun partnership to watch.

Katie McGlynn and Gorka Marquez - The most forgettable female celeb for me and another partnership I was surprised at as Gorka was partnered with a young female soap star last year however the main difference being Maisie was a natural dancer and Katie doesn't seem to be. Could be a possible 'journey' contestant however with no improvement an earlier exit ala Katie Piper.

Nina Wadia and Neil Jones - It'll be interesting to see how Neil will choreograph and teach a new partner as the partnership with Alex didn't seem to live up to hype it had when they were first paired up. Neil is also probably as the bottom in terms of the likeability of the pro's (definitely within the strictly fandom anyway). A partnership I don't see getting too far a bit forgettable.

Rhys Stephenson and Nancy Xu - The most forgettable male celeb for me probably down to the fact he is the least well known celeb out of them all IMO for just being a cbbc presenter; his dancing could turn that around. It's nice to see Nancy off the bench and it'll be interesting to see what she can do teaching and choreography wise. Hopefully Rhys won't be as annoying as Karim was.

Robert Webb and Dianne Buswell - So Dianne now has an 'older' guy after having 3 'younger' guys in a row. This partnership seems to fit as Robert has an actual personality ( sorry Dev & Max). The major thing that seems to stand in their way even before they've done a first dance is that Robert is similar to Bill; while Bill is a comedian and Robert is a comedy actor we don't normally have repeat winners apart from gender. Maybe if Dianne could choreograph some great memorable dances they could get quite far.

Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice - Touted as the 2nd favourite to win by the bookies at this point (after Tom) and of course it's easy to see why. The public love a good underdog/fighting against the odds story and she seems like a sweet person so best of luck to her, it'll be interesting to see how Gio deals with his most 'challenging' contestant yet. Adding to this when Kevin Clifton left the show the year after he won he tossed his bouquet of ''always the runner up never the winner'' to Giovanni so this could be a storyline we could get this year as well which may endear them more to the public vote.

Sara Davies and Aljaž Škorjanec - Surprising pairing as I was sure he would get Rose or maybe John. Alijaz seems to be the go to of getting the older ladies and making them feel comfortable; she might get the north east vote but dont see a long run out of them.

Tilly Ramsey and Nikita Kuzmin - Probably the most obvious pairing; Nikita was definitely hired as the AJ Pritchard replacement and he along with Cameron may take it in turns getting the younger female celeb every year. As a new pro it's always interesting see how they will teach/choreograph. The most concerning thing about this partnership is the fact that Tilly has started university so how will she balance training and uni life???

Tom Fletcher and Amy Dowden - Tipped as the early favourite by the bookies of course it's not hard to see why: 1) In a well known pop band 2) Bandmate won the show previously and 3) his wife won I'm a celeb which concludes in what might seem a large fanbase/population voting for him. However I agree with the sentiments shared on this forum which is he seems nauseating already. I looked up when he is on tour and it seems to be only for the rest of September then one date in November (correct me if I'm wrong I just checked ticketmaster) so that rules out any major early concern that people were having. The only little bit of sympathy I will have for Tom is that he is partnered with Amy and as long time posters on this forum will know as sweet as she seems to be in everyday life, on strictly she is a taskmaster and that will go hand in hand with this partnership as she probably knows that after having 3 youngish guys on the trot (Karim, JJ) and now having a likely contender in Tom, next year she will probably get the duffer and/or the oldest man so she will cracking the whip this year to get her hands on that glitterball.

Ugo Monye and Oti Mabuse - Not much to say don't know too much about him but from what I've seen and what other people have posted this is a definite give off of 'only in it for the pay cheque and leap in exposure' contestant. I think more people are only interested in watching Oti as she is now more famous than the majority of the celebs and if the rumours are true this could be her last year. She may get a few weeks out of him if she's lucky.

Yes I see what you mean. I think/hope that on Robert's part that attitude is sort of self defense, in that if he turns out to be terrible (which I don't think he will tbh) he can console himself with the fact it was all a bit of a joke anyway.
I think once they get into training they do start to take it seriously, plus their professionals won't take a superior snide attitude.
Yes, I never thought about it that way, a form of self defence.
I think Robert is going to be really good, going by his Flashdance performance that time.
I used to have a crush on Greg years ago but he bugged me this evening!

On the point about Kai and AJ potential romance - Kai has been in a relationship with Giulia Dotta for years. Have they broken up?

Feels like we're on the road to Christmas now Strictly has started. Every year the celebs get (to me) less and less famous but it always ends up being a pretty good show.

Wish Luba had a partner preferably instead of Katya but never mind. I know Motsi will annoy me with her shouting and incredible ability to say a lot of words without meaning anything. Greg reminds me in build and looks of Jeremy Vine. Agree with everyone who said AJ must be kicking himself or at least aiming one at his brother and wouldn't be surprised if Kevin from Grimsby wasn't feeling too chuffed either.

Did the show set a record for the number of dancers (either pro or celeb) who said they had been hoping that their partner was who they actually got? It seemed like everyone was thrilled. I know I will sound like a whining male but when Judi said she wanted a partner who was sexy and hot, I couldn't help thinking how it would be received if one of the male celebs said he wanted a sexy woman to dance with.

Biggest gripe for me is the all male partnership. It was 100% going to be Johannes but why? There is a difference between a same sex partnership which the BBC called it last year and this and same sexuality partnership. If it really is all about the dancing, then sexuality should have nothing to do with it, yet out of the 4 people involved so far, 3 of them were gay/lesbian. Just call it same sexuality, or even better, don't call it anything or make a song and dance about it. There have been gay dancers, gay celebs and gay judges for years and the show has always been a hit. It's nothing to do with inclusion as there have dancers of every sexuality, ethnicity, age, weight and levels of disability in every series so far.

Just don't lie or hide behind a basically accurate but not all encompassing statement and call it as it is. It's all very well for John to say his life would be easier if Strictly had done this when he was growing up, but Will Young won Pop Idol before Strictly even came back to the air so there were role models available. I know he said when he was a little boy but he was closer to an adult than a little boy when Strictly started so think he may be a little unclear on his dates. To then say to Johannes that it's all about the dancing is bullshit as if it was, he would have been happy with a female partner.

Still if it addresses and eradicates a so called taboo and helps people in the same way some viewers may feel held back in life by their weight, colour or physical ability then great. I will be happy if the series goes as planned without the virus or injuries ruining it for people so I can count down the weeks to buying presents while moaning about crap singers and giving scores to couples on a subject I know nothing about and am nearly always entirely wrong.
