I’m not bothered that the results show is pre-recorded and then shown on the Sunday. If however in the future they want to keep the results live on the Saturday then you don’t need to have a constantly rolling 3 hour show. After the main dances they take a break from Strictly, show another programme for an hour or so and then come back to them at 9pm for the results

Didn't they used to do that originally? Have they got the separate results show as they introduced Dance Offs and so needed a longer show?

I watch the Sunday show for the pro group dances, the results and in hope the guest singer will be half decent whilst you have the swooshing around them dancing (oh and to see what the new outfits are).
I don't care for the judges segment (unless it was just Anton and Craig discussing).
Waiting 24 hours for a padded out show is boring

And I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY wish they'd stop the head judge title.

They could always move it a hour forward and then have the hit list in the break instead of before. I don't mind Sunday though. My girls love watching but my eldest always falls asleep before the end of the Saturday show so she'd never make it to Saturday results 🤣

They never made an ‘official’ statement, but the consensus at the point at which the Sunday show was introduced was that it was an attempt to steal audience share from the X Factor’s Sunday show, as ITV was dominating the Sunday evening viewing figures.

There was a brief attempt at a Sunday night ‘highlights’ show, but presumably that didn’t pull the viewers in, so the results show was moved instead.

Oh yes, I remember now. Another reason I think the Sunday show works is that it gives the eliminated people a day to lick their wounds and prepare their gracious social media posts!

I don't mind the results show per se, but I find it ridiculous that they keep up the whole "Sunday night" charade, just admit it's filmed on a Saturday but aired on a Sunday! 🤷

Although if they did show it on a Saturday night it might make them cut a lot of the filler stuff!

Exactly! And they can come back to it after Casualty surely, they wouldn’t have to have a continuous show. It’s not taking 24 hours to count and verify the votes so I don’t see the need for the results being on a Sunday night

ETA - just saw Cupid Stunt said the same thing, should have read on!

I think people who want the results to be done live would have to think about whether they want to wait an hour after the dances finish for the phone lines to close (presumably filled by Neil and Jowita doing an interpretative dance while Gorka strides around the dancefloor pissily) and then have the whole dance-off live, thus finishing the show at midnight or so.
It would probably finish too late for the kids who wanted to watch. Plus there's other tv shows to consider.

I don’t mind the results on a Sunday tbh. They’d only fill the space in the schedule on Sundays with some repeat or something nobody wants. It’s probably easier with the elaborate staging they have for some dances these days to have it pre recorded for a Sunday broadcast. Plus like someone else said having it all on one evening makes it really late for little ones (and tired older ones 😂). Plus if I don’t see Saturdays show I can just watch the recap and decide if I want to watch the full dances or not.

I like having a Sunday show… I just wish it was filmed on Sunday. I get that it makes no sense with the costumes etc, it just annoys me they all pretend it’s filmed live when it’s not

And the contestants/professionals would need a day off as well. They can’t be expected to be dancing 7 days a week

Also Dan wouldn’t have been on the series as he doesn’t work Sundays

I think we are overthinking it. There's so much pretense in TV anyway. I just see it as spreading it out over two nights.
Oh yes - it is just interesting. I once worked with a Christian who asked me to ring a client and say she was out (she wasn't). But then she fretted that it was a lie - so her solution was to stand in the corridor so she couldn't hear me lying so it didn't count 😂
I just imagine Dan has get out clauses like that. I really don't care - as I say it is just interesting(ish).

I for one would prefer it to be on the same night like it used to be. Dancing on ice manage it.

Well yes, but they don’t let them dance shirtless anymore. Sad. He is pretty but so sleazy still.

The results show on a Saturday was fine. They would be Holby on in the middle and then go back to it but there was no musical guest and none of the chat and it was literally the announcement and the dance off. BBC found a way to make 2 programmes for the price of one and stretched it out - Bruce did have something to do with it as well, he couldn’t do the whole thing so only did the first half. I wish it would go back to how it was.

The Shirley in the VT about the armed services rehabilitation plac
The most annoying part of the show for me is that weird transition from the Sunday pre-recorded group dance (with no audience) to the room full of people when it finishes
yes!
