Can’t work Gio out with Rose. He appears to really like her. He has affection for her radiating off him. But I don’t think it’s romantic, more like sibling maybe. But also, Gio is smart. He knows he’s in with a chance of winning. How much is put on? They all gush about their partners like they are the lives of their life during StrictlyJohn be posting on Insta that dancing with Johannes is the happiest he’s ever been. Bet his boyfriend loves that.
Giovanni is probably due a win, and Rose is great. Their partnership is lovely to watch. He's probably also happy that they could be heading to the final lol. Strictly is such a weird thing when you think about it. They form these really intense and quick bonds with a stranger over three months.
They're obviously putting on an entertainement show, and any time a camera is on them they're "on", and that's fine. But the interesting thing about Strictly is sort of discerning and following along with the real-life journey. Watching whether the couples get along or not, seeing them fall in love with dance and really enjoy it, watching them make a comeback from a low. Even as it's a staged entertainment show - and I enjoy that aspect a lot also - you can see that.

Finding them quite forgettable and predictable. His frantic tendencies make every dance look the same. Karim was the same but was more of a ringer so managed to pull off the fast dances better. Maybe its something to do with being a kids presenter and having to have bundles of energy all the time.

John’s stumble was choreographed. If you watch the rehearsal footage posted in the lady thread I thought ‘oh he stumbled’ but then he did the exact same thing tonight & I realised it was meant to be part of the dance. Like a comic stumble kinda thing.
I liked it but def not a classic. I’m ready to see some romantic ballroom from John & Johannes. They’ve been quite predictable. Given John’s general dance ability & the power play between two males, a tango & paso were going to be good. I think they’d do a cracking AT also. The moody, angsty stuff. I feel like the cheery upbeat and/or latin stuff may be their weak point. But I think they could be beautiful in hold. And I think they need to show a new side to their dancing now. And to all the gay men & teens watching the show. To stand up & be brave enough to show the world two men being romantic & whizzing round the dance floor. I don’t think you can underestimate the power of that. Pleaseeeee give them ballroom next week BBC(They’ll probs get a salsa

you all know I'm a john + jojo stan, and that charleston had me screaming, and the pirate paso was probably my favourite dance of all I've seen in the whole 17 years I've watched this goddamn show! but I am absolutely dying to see them do some beautiful ballroom, something like the love story waltz jojo did with kai
or a hot and sexy Argentine tango which will leave us all screaming "I'm wet"!!
Same here but thinking Rhys doesn't bring out the best in her (OTT energy that isn't appealing to me as a viewer). I wonder how she'd be if given a different type of partner. Could someone who comes across as energetic as her handle a middle aged or older contestant? I'd give her a guy in his 40s or 50s next season who hopefully brings out another side of her.

I really am loving Giovanni and Rose. I think it is good for him that he is dancing with a young, strong and independent woman who is not falling at his feet and as a result we are all seeing a totally different side to Giovanni. Rose is fantastic!
I loved AJ in the beginning. I still think she is really great but she is at slight disadvantage from being so brilliant from the first dance, it makes it hard for people to get invested in her. I love her and Kai together but sometimes I find her a bit loud which is off-putting.
I was a huge fan of John but I can't put my finger on why I am becoming disinterested in his dances. Maybe it's because of all the side by side dancing but there is something off.
I think AJ and Rose are set for the final and the last spot is wide open. Right now I'm leaning towards Sara being there but her Rumba was a bit of a non event. It is clearly difficult to make an impression with Rumba so hopefully she continues to improve from here.
I like Dan too and love that we get to learn more about Nadiya who seems great!
I can take or leave Judi, Tom, Adam, Tilly and Rhys. Judi's dances seem to now have a good bit of walking around in them and I haven't become invested in Tom at all. I think he is an oversaturated presence in the media and it feels strange to see him on Strictly. Adam is super confident, bordering on arrogant and that is not appealing. Tilly is a lovely dancer but off the dance floor she doesn't seem to have a strong presence. I find it so distracting how she is constantly looking up at Nikita's eyes in interviews and she can be a bit monotone in her answers/VTs. Rhys is frenetic in his dancing and I agree - maybe if he had a calmer partner he would be able to control that a bit more.

Obviously it depends on who the contestants are but I think it’s weird how they treat the “subs”. Like Nancy and Jowita both seem a similar height so rather than sticking with Nancy and giving her a good shot at it, or benching someone else, they’ll probably give Jowita a partner next year and stick Nancy back on the bench rather than maybe bench Amy or Dianne and give them both a chance.
Did Chloe leave or did they totally bin her off?
In COVID times it’s not so straightforward to say “Gorka is injured so Cameron is going to step in” so them taking on four new dancers when it’s going to be years until they all get a partner seems a bit unfair! I always think it must be tough to hang about in the peripheral and getting the odd dance in the results show to showcase what you can do

You can tell she's just not got the experience of some of the others pros - I saw someone on DS comment that you can see her watching Rhys throughout the dance and trying to mirror him and they're right - I think this is what makes their dances look odd and disjointed. I'm sure all pros do it, but the others are better at hiding it
Not sure how good a teacher she is too. But could be that Rhys just can't pick up the technique very well
But saying all that, it is her first year so she deserves a chance to improve
Is it in some of the pros contracts that they get a partner every year? I thought I read that about Kevin Clifton before. Dianne always seems certain she will get a partner on her Instagram.
I agree, I think Nancy deserves another chance and I would love to see what Jowita can do. She was terrific on The Greatest Dancer. I think Nadiya is finally getting a chance to shine with Dan and it's nice to see - it shakes it up a bit! Maybe Oti will move on after this year?

Good point re the contracts, that makes sense. I’m surprised Gorka doesn’t but maybe he does now, given he’s had partners the last 3/4 years

It shouldn't make a difference but for me the judges are ruining the show and making me not sure I'll keep watching. I remember a few years ago a 8 in the first few weeks was a good score and only the very best got a 10, and never in the first few weeks. Apart from Craig and sometimes Anton, there is rarely any critique and everything is amazing. The bias to keep in certain celebs (yes you Dan and Tom) is painfully obvious and they're ruining the show.
A 50% clear out of the judges and pros should give the show the refresh it needs. The viewing figures seem to be tanking so hopefully it'll happen
