Has anyone seen this?

What did you think? I think they could get another series out of it.

I'm a bit.confused as to who the grey haired woman was? She was at the house quite a bit as the start and I thought she was the pregnant girls partner but no. Then she was working in the cafe.

I liked it! I hoped there would be another series as the actors are decent and there was such a lot going on, there really is scope for more drama!
Shena(sp) Kerslake who played Grace is a fantastic actress and a bit of a scene-stealer, and the guy who played her ex (who also had a small but significant and convincing role in Normal People) has a lot more to give too IMO!

Anyway, they've actually filmed a second series already - I noticed the production team around Moy House and Ennistymon community centre (where the Garda station scenes were filmed) a few weeks back, and one of the cafés just down the street from it was painted up as "Grace's café" which was my first clue!

The grey haired lady was Val's sister I believe, and worked in the café. Played by Carrie Crowley (who cohosted Eurovision in 1997 with Ronan Keating of all people!).

So glad they are doing another series. So much more stories to explore.

Sister- ah missed that.

All the actors were fab. Normal People was another level. Was the young boy in anything else also?

Sad bit now - I loved all the hair styles. Hairdresser did a good job.

The younger boy was in The Delinquent Season, a film I've recorded but haven't watched yet!
The guy that played his older brother was in Fair City for years - I wouldn't have rated him based on seeing him in that the odd time, but thought he was excellent in Smother. Will be interested to see how the whole "dating Granny's boyfriend's daughter" thing pans out in series two!
Yeah I was very impressed by Normal People - another of Sally Rooney's novels is in production as a film or series too as far as I know, so if the same team is involved it should also be well worth a watch.

I've just finished the first series - loved it!

The lead actress annoyed me a bit with her constantly furrowed brow and whispery voice, as well as her mistreatment of her new partner, but that's the only thing I could fault!

I love Moy House (the central home) - what a beauty! Actually, all the houses were beautiful.

I'm about to dig my ironing board out and watch the second series - good times!

Third series has been filmed too!
Moy House is beautiful. I heard the interior used was not of Moy House but of The Black Oak (former restaurant) over the road but not sure on that.

A third series? That's fantastic!

I never made it to watching season 2 as we had unexpected visitors - I'll hope to get into it tomorrow.

I looked up some pictures on Trip Advisor, and the dining room (with the duck egg blue and white walls) was the same but I didn't recognise any of the other rooms. It was sad to read that it won't ever be offered as rentable accommodation anymore but I imagine the owner has probably made more money than he ever imagined by letting it out for the filming of this TV series (if that's the reason).

I've just finished - love this show!

I'll put this all behind a spoiler, just in case:

What did Anna do for a job in Singapore? She was Rory's one-time assistant - did she continue to work for him up until he got sick? She talked about going back there in season 2, so she obviously had some sort of ties to the country.

Didn't Grace inherit that house on the hill, the one where Val found the bloodied napkin, as well as £100k (like Anna did)? There was no mention of that property in season 2. I would've liked to have thought she'd sell it and split the proceeds with her sisters.

In season 1, the red-haired lady went to the house on the hill and confronted Val - had she been staying there? (I'm guessing so, since that's where she was having an affair with Denis?).

There was no mention whatsoever of who Jenny's father was. As I was watching season 1, I thought it would be revealed that her dad was her uncle ... that would have been quite a good thing to weave into the storyline (maybe they will, for season 3?).

Grace can't just up and leave for London - what about her cafe, and all the money she owes on it, etc.?

For a headmistress, Val never spent any time at school (aside from in the first season).

What a shame Val's lover from season 1 didn't appear in season 2 ... they didn't really explain how Ingrid came to live with Mairead, did they?

Jenny seemed to pay her debt off fast - she did mention in season 2 that Val's lover (whose name escapes me) loaned her the money until she could pay it back, but she hadn't been at work for very long to be able to do that ...

At what point did Alannah split with her husband and move in with the uncle? It would've been good to walk through that because it just didn't seem believable.
