I was like 15 when it first came out so was the right age for it. I only watched the first series though at the time. Watched the 2nd Gen one a few years ago and it wasn't too bad. Bailed on the third one. Watched a few of the special episodes - Cooks was probably best.

I think I preferred Effy's. I literally can't even remember Cook's (perhaps because he was one of my least favourite characters).

I always feel Skins did a good first series of each generation (1, 3, 5) but always fell short in the second (2, 4, 6) gravitating towards OTT drama. How many teenagers die in their second year of 6th form FFS.
 
I grew up on Skins and I have lost count of how many times I have rewatched it.
Now it's been about 12 years and admittedly I still put Skins on sometimes when I'm chilling with a drink and want something easy in the background!
Chris from the first cast was always my favourite, I really disliked Cassie as they made her a very toxic person. Second cast I was a fan of Effy and Cook! And third cast I could not stand Frankie or Liv.
 
OK I'm the complete opposite. I liked Sid. And Cassie (but not together). But I agree Cassie was almost unrecognisable in S2 she was so bitter.

Second generation gotta be Katie f*cking Fitch. (Liked Naomi/Emily until the cheating)

Third generation I liked Liv the most, then Rich, and couldn't stand Alo (buffoon) or Grace (too sickly sweet).
 
I watched this when it was first on and must have been about 12/13. It was definitely not the best influence on me and I would probs say it did influence a lot of my teenage behaviour (and dress sense - wanted to be Effy 😂). I do think they glamourised smoking, drug use, sex and eating disorders a bit much. But then I shouldn’t really have been watching I suppose!

I rewatched some last year and actually do still like it! I’d like to rewatch the 3rd gen again because I remember quite liking it the first time but not nearly as much as the other 2 casts, was a totally different vibe.
 
The first series of Skins had the best trailer/promo thing. It really hyped the show (the one with the Gossip, standing in the way of control).
It was on when i was in first year at college. People used to throw ‘Skins parties’ and advertise them on MySpace 😂.

I remember really liking the random singing bit at the end of series 1 (I think?) and the bit where Sid told Tony that his dad was dead during a Crystal Castles gig. I thought that bit was done well and so sad.

I hated the episode where Tony goes to look round universities and ends up shagging everyone. Just thought it was ridiculous and cringe and felt seedy.

I love it for a bit of nostalgia though! And ideal that I watched it at the same age as the characters.

Yes, they sing ‘Wild World’ - when I first watched it I hated it but now I love it. And omg I was obsessed with that crystal castles song.
 
This is definitely still my guilty pleasure! I do wish they had done more spin off series like they did with effy, cook and Cassie. It was really interesting to see them grown up, evolving etc and it would have been great to see more characters given a spin off, even just an episode.
 
I loved it as a teen but it didn't reflect my own experiences, I think Inbetweeners captured that a lot better. (Being a geeky virgin who never got invited to parties was my brand). I still loved it, because it was what I wished my teens were like (boys, sex and parties).
The girls were all so badly written though. I hated Effy and Cassie. They were the most unrealistic characters, especially Effy. She didn't even say a word the entire first season, and everyone fawned over her - I just didn't get it, she was nothing special. Both were glamorised in such a toxic way, especially Cassie's illness.
Another one I never understood the love for was Cook. He was horrible and reminded me of the boys who used to bully me at school, I could never get past that.
I did really love Chris and Maxxie, I used to rewatch just the Maxxie episodes cos I had such a crush on him.
I mostly dipped in and out of second and third gen, they just weren't the same.
 
I’m currently rewatching the 2nd generation and Cook is still my favourite character. Just do layered and complex plus Jack O Connell is such a great actor. But yes, Skins was very OTT! These teenagers acted like they were in a Shakespearean tragedy…very tortured!
 
Just started to watch some of the clips on YouTube and I don't get why everyone is so obbesed with effy she's got such a crappy personality and also I agree with everyone saying about how it glamourizes eds, drugs and hooking up with random people and it is really unrealistic at times but it being unrealistic and ott is what makes the show what it is.

Seems kat was in a horrible accident in NYC and is completely on her own. I couldn't imagine having those injuries and having no family around me 😔

I can’t believe it, what a horrible freak accident. She’s done well for herself within her career, but I’m assuming this will be the end of it for her. Thank god she survived, my heart goes out to her and Megan!
