So during this Lockdown period I have just discovered Skins UK thanks to Netflix. I'm watching this at 31 and cant decide if I had seen it at 16 if I would have loved it or if I would have tried to be Effy and it would have really fecked me up. Anyone out there watch this when it initially aired?

I did and I was hooked on it but I’ve tried re: watching it more recently and I’m just not feeling it. I feel like a lot of the other girls were cast wrong i.e. Michelle was no where near as hot as she was supposed to be

Watched it last year on Netflix and found a lot of it to be very cringe/silly (e.g. when they went to Russia, when Tony went to that uni open day), but still watchable. I really didn't like the 3rd gen group though, I stopped watching after the first episode of s6 because I just found them so boring.

I can't imagine they'd get away with that 9/11 musical episode now!

I loved skins but it was unrealistic,skins is the expectation but inbetweeners is the reality for being a teenager. Second gen were my favourite but I hated the third generation I only watched 2 episodes.

I really enjoyed Skins when I first watched it about 4 years ago. Tried rewatching it recently and I just don't like any of them. Even did a BF quiz the other day that was "who's your favourite Skins character" - at a push Effy, but none of them are likeable really apart from JJ and Maxie...

I watched the cook/Freddie season when it first aired, but watches them all from the start last Xmas. Loved them!

I think it's just aimed at teenagers to give them something to talk above at school the next day, from what I've seen .

Ditto Misfits which I thought was basically Skins but with powers.

Watched them at 18 and loved them, watched them recently and don’t feel the same. As someone already said, the characters aren’t likeable and I feel like they really glamourised mental illness, especially where Effy was concerned. I’m clearly in the minority because I really liked season 5/6 (3rd Gen) I thought it dealt with some actual teenage situations.

I watched it as a young teen (no, it probably wasn’t particularly appropriate at the time ) & I loved it, only 1st & 2nd gen though. I’ve rewatched both series since & still enjoy them despite it not being very realistic.

I loved it as a teen but I rewatched it recently too and it just wasn’t the same. I’ll always have a soft spot for cook whatever age I am though loved the final series catch up about him, they should have made it into a movie.

I watched skins when it first aired I was around 12/13 I think.
I fell in love with it back then, loved Cassie and her style. Huge crush on maxxie!
it was nothing like my teenage life and very inappropriate tbh, I watched in secret from my strict parents!
But when I tried to watch it back not long ago I didn’t like it at all, it actually angered me how badly things were portrayed and dealt with.

Aaaah I loved it! Totally unrealistic but thought it was great in its day, also it discovered some great talent.

wasn’t a fan of the 3rd generation, would preferred they left it at the 2nd one.
