Just finished binge watching this and I miss it already.
It follows the lives of a Hasidic Jewish family living in Jerusalem. It’s in mostly Yiddish but there are subtitles. There are two seasons the first filmed in 2013 and the second in 2016 then it was picked up by Netflix in 2019.
It gives a wonderful insight into their lives and I came away thinking I’d learnt a lot.
One of the best series I’ve watched and as much as I enjoyed Unorthodox, Shtisel is more realistic.
It is brilliant loved all the characters and getting to know them.

if you like it watch Michael Aloni in “Where Heroes Fly”, it’s really good too.
Watching “Fauda” at the mo. Loving the Israeli tv on Netflix.

So glad you enjoyed it. They are making series 3 but it has been delayed due to Covid.

Seriously it's a really goo watch. Where Heroes Fly is good as well. And Unorthodox is brilliant, really thought provoking.

Oh that is great, loved Unorthodox, Shtisel and Fauda. I haven't seen the original Hostages, only the American version with Toni Collette. I'm off now to find When Heros Fly on Netflix

I just couldn't help myself. I usually save it but I was so excited! Sad I know . I watched 2 episodes today and they were fabulous!

I'm on episode 7 season 1. I've got into Spiral so have put it on the back burner for now but will go back to it soon now you've all reminded me about it.
