I actually think it’s good that they’re being realistic about how different it will be, without so many main characters, it’s more like a spin-off than a continuation of the series.
Samantha had the best lines though. I always loved this one -

Maybe they think it's too different to the original? Like as in the stage of life they are in, all married rather than dating a lot of people? It seems like they are going for more of a friendship focus.

Also Samantha brought the most sex to it and she's gone. 😂 She should have been the sex columnist, Carrie could seem a bit weird about it sometimes.
For a sex columnist she was a prude and not particularly sex positive, quite judgy. She was suited to vanilla Aiden. Miranda had more adventurous sex than she did. Not even thinking about Samantha and all of her adventures (worldwide express guy shaming) Also weird about bisexuals - or do we forget about that episode?

One of the relationships on the show I found most unbelievable was Smith and Samantha. It felt forced, the incessant role play was annoying, and I feel they were too different, in age and experience, to have fallen so deeply in love. It just felt like the writers thought "Ok Samantha needs a partner so they can all be in relationships by the end of the series" and they cooked up that, imo, very unrealistic romance. They should have left her single.

Sorry for double post

Absolutely. Especially how uptight she was about bisexuality. She also was giggly about Charlotte asking about anal sex.

I think it was more when she said things like she didn't believe bisexuality existed, and then also made that huge deal about kissing a woman in agame of spin the bottle
This. Carrie always wanted to be centre of attention. Like when she befriended the hot gay aussie in season 4 and then got annoyed because he was flirting with other gay guys at the bar. That never bothered her when she was with female friends and they were flirting. By the way she totally fancied the gay man, and I got the feeling she wanted something to happen with him....despite being with Aiden at the time. At the end of the episode she realises the gay guy really is gay, and she won't get the kind of affirmative flirting from him she wants , so she goes back to Aiden pleased that at least she can get attention from him. All of which further illustrates how little her relationship with Aiden meant to her, as subsequent events proved.

God I loved reading through this thread!
SATC is one of my all time favourite shows

Did anyone else love Carrie’s first engagement ring from Aiden? (The one she saw and threw up... typical dramatic Carrie)
It was a pear shaped diamond on a gold band, so pretty and unusual! Much more exciting than the replacement one he got her imo.

I thought it was awful to be honest!

I liked the diamond but not the band. It was different to the one in the picture .

SATC was fabulous but also problematic in itself it was truly marmite viewing but I just love the nostalgia of it all, however Carrie still remains one of the most annoying self involved narrators of any series.

But it should of ended as it begun a series

annd I have no interest in a woke reboot trying to be everything that people have criticised them on you didn’t do it then so why bother now, it’s a false narrative.

I agree, I will wawtch it if I can just for curiosity, but it annoys me how many things are just remakes of old things, like HBO just remaking gossip girl, why not come up with something new?

She was so vanilla, she didn't need to be with a different guy every night, even when she was in a serious relationship with Aiden who she could trust it was still vanilla 🥱
