Geri was the most media savvy and absolutely shameless self promoter and the least musically talented of the five. When you look at the their early stuff it was sheer charisma and bolshiness. They are less musically accomplished than girls aloud or little mix - but they are also less produced and more authentic. As authentic as a put together girl band could be.

One of the reasons they were so successful is because they were fresh and different to anything else around at the time. They definitely paved the way for the girl groups that came after them.
 
The spice girls were just a breath of fresh air. Many execs said a girl group wasn't what the world needed, turns out that's exactly what it needed. They may have been manufactured but they had a lot more input than most manufactured groups have.

I though posh was savy, but how many years has she been loosing money on clothes and only now is making huge money on makeup.

Remember when Simon cowell spent years and millions trying to make a copy of the spice girls. Someone with bright hair ✅, a baby type ✅, a wannabe type song ✅...and it goes on. Contrived mess.

Exactly, they were really the first girl band of that type. Geri cannot sing at all, neither cN posh. I remember stories about how awful geri was at learning the minor dsnce routines they did but she just pushed through and managed to. Look at the video of wannabe, how random their outfits are, how unpolished it all is. I don't have children but if I did I would rather they grew up listening Nd watching that than current girl bands like little mix that all look totally "flawless"
 
Not sure I entirely agree; it certainly made me feel that being a woman might be a good thing rather than just being an also-ran.

And yes, I loved their outspoken feminism. I'd not seen anything like that before.

Zig-a-zig-ah was apparently a snog but I just took it as a nonsense phrase which sounded good.

I wonder how on earth they are going to make Season 3 work? Set it five years in the future so they can have Carrie trailing round after Aiden again? Have Carrie go out to Connecticut or wherever he lives and confront his ex wife?

If Che has ran off with a comedian from Australia I can’t say I’ll be too upset.
