I knew a little about the case and that everyone feels he got off lightly - I assumed he’d actually just left the country and refused to come back… if they had him in court and only gave him a $175 fine for two deaths, that’s an absolute joke, but a complete failure of their legal system. Poor family.

That is surprising, I thought too that maybe he just hadn’t returned to the country but reading it seems they spend loads of time there.

They do, and they probably do that thing famous people do in Ireland, where they get excited about how Irish people treat them normally and never bother them. And we haven't the heart to tell them that we DGAF who you are, we're not making a show of ourselves gushing over some la-di-da famous person. Beyoncé was shocked that no one approached her in Dublin Zoo one time! Matt Damon got stuck in a fancy Dublin suburb during the first lockdown, and the locals were falling over themselves to be blasé about it.

SJP comes across a bit princessy. She has a holiday home in Ireland, in the wilds of co. Donegal, where her husband's people came from, but they keep to themselves and no one notices them much (except for the local wool and tweed producers when she wore one of their coats in NY). The low profile here might have something to do with her husband killing a woman and her mother in a car accident in the neighbouring county in the 1980s - he was very much at fault and the family are still bitter that he got off lightly.
It absolutely beggars belief that Broderick has continued to have the career he did without facing any consequences for killing two people.

Old miranda definitely feels like the most NYC of all the girls, she has the no-bs attitude and doesn’t take dating too seriously in the series. She works hard, makes good financial decisions and is independent. I know Sam does this too but she always seemed a bit caricatured. I liked how Miranda had a strong moral compass and was a loyal friend and gave love a chance with Steve/was willing to grow. Even in the first movie. What they’ve done to her in AJLT is shocking. No woman in their 50s in nyc working in the corporate field or attending an Ivy League would act this way. fair enough if it ran its course with Steve but I could see her dating some switched on fellow successful guy (or girl) and having an awesome empty nester life in a cool Manhattan apartment- anyone remember the fit silver fox lawyer she dated when Brady was a baby and she really wanted a shag - somebody like that! She wouldn’t give che the time of day.
Totally agree about Miranda. The whole "he's just not that into you" for me now as a mid 39s seems so am
You blew me off for a piece of politically incorrect meat?
Miranda and Samantha both had the best one liners I thought it was bad when I saw it initially, but now (with how much of a hassle it is to gonout after work) I cannot imagine getting somewhere and my friend, not even cancelling, but not even bothering to apologise for it!

Not even that he has had no fallout, but I (as I imagine lots of us here) had NO idea about thr case even!

I’m on my annual SATC rewatch and I forgot how much I LOVE S1. Carrie is bearable and quite relatable (when she see’s Big on a date with another girl) and is hurt.

My fave S1 moment is Laney’s baby shower with Sam and Charlotte
Charlotte - she stole my baby name
Sam - you witch!
😂😂😂😂
Wasn’t the baby name something really tacky like Shayla? As if a WASP like Charlotte would call her kid anything like that in reality!!

Doesn’t Carrie tell Miranda she left a message on her answer machine, when she cancels on her? Still tit but not as bad as just plain standing someone up.

I've been away and just caught up with the last two. I really felt ill for Miranda when Che was doing her sketch in on stage; it was horrible to watch, and it was also horrible to see Che start flailing around refusing to "apologise for being herself" - well why not, if you're going to be a cow you should apologise. I was disappointed by this I really liked her once she stopped being a stand up/podcast/TV star/whatever and worked in the vets'. I felt a lot warmer towards her.

But Carrie bullying Miranda into coming to dinner and not ditching Che after the stand up was really unpleasant. That and Anthony finally getting bummed left me feeling really uncomfortable (as I'm sure he was) - that's not the kind of thing you should be talked into - you either want it or you don't - and if he isn't enjoying it he should be able to say "stop".

All that and Carrie giving Aidan FIVE YEARS just - FFS. What a pathetic piece of work she's turned into.

5 years and selling her apartment for him. Ffs. She can’t even visit him. He may as well be in jail!
