I agree, but wasn’t Miranda a corporate lawyer? That’s not right on enough for Cynthia - whoops, I mean Miranda - so now she’s got to show her woke credentials by becoming a human rights activist and lesbian.I also just don't understand how they all woke up one day and decided they each needed a black friend - it would make a lot more sense if those friendships had developed in the unseen 15-year period. So for example, instead of Miranda randomly going back to college, Nya could have been a partner at her firm with 10 years of friendship under their belt already.
I don’t think Cynthia Nixon understands what acting means. ‘Miranda’ should be allowed to be an entirely different person to who CN is, and not a carbon copy of her real life. I think this is what everyone watching is finding so jarring. Someone having a mid life crisis/affair/job change is all quite usual, but for them to mirror CN’s life changes exactly is ridiculous. None of Miranda’s reactions to any of these make sense if you go purely on how she was in SATC.
