Severance - Apple TV

Have watched episodes 1, 2 and 3 so far and I am enjoying it but it just seems so slow! I want to speed it up a bit or shorten the episodes. I’m intrigued to see where it’s going and I’m loving the cinematography of it all but I find I lose interest mid episode as it’s so slow. My husband on the other hand is absolutely loving and thinks I’m mad for saying it’s too slow.

Facts! I won’t watch S2 unless it gets excellent reviews. Season 1 can stand by itself as a great work IMO.
This exactly. Won't watch any of S2 unless it's on the same level and 8-9s on IMDb for the episodes.

Not going to waste any time going into the thousands of different theories about it, been burnt too many times before!

Was the guy that plays Mark wearing a fake chin? He's always looked so youthful (and still does when on talk shows) and the harsh lighting inside there wasn't very forgiving.

Just finished it. Wow! Need to process it.

I think he’s just quite a strange looking guy and it’s amplified by the harsh lighting, bad wig and heavy make up. Kind of looks like one of the scary old ventriloquist dummies

And also the fact that he’s ageing

I have one more episode left, so I haven't read the thread. I just wanted to say that the acting in this is brilliant...apart from Patricia Arquette. How does she keep getting jobs. I feel embarrassed for her when she does that laugh/cry thing.

I've watched it all now. I think that's what you call "setting it up nicely for season 2" 😂

Helly's dress and earrings were beautiful in the final episode. She looked great.

I was really disappointed she didn't pick "tearful emo", which was also on the "defiant jazz" list. I would've loved to have seen that.

Cobel is the worst character. Please get rid of Patricia Arquette and put Natalie in charge.

Re a previous comment, when did Devon see Gemma? Have I missed something? I don't think Gemma was out and about, wasn't she kept in the lab? That's why she had to keep going down the dark corridor. I may have missed something.

Also, did we find out what was with the baby goat thing?

Adam Scott reminds me of Matt Bellamy.

Great show.

So happy we have another fan!!! welcome @bubbadabut 😄

The goat is what’s triggering my Lost PTSD. They’re too much like the polar bears! I learned from the past and have made preemptive peace with the fact that they might never get another mention 🤣

I believe we ruled out Devon seeing Gemma as a mistake. Don’t sweat it.

Per Arquette I had a strong repulsed reaction to her character which felt really right. Never saw her before but I do want to know what her likeness was doing at the waffle party haha

Yay I’m so happy reading reactions 😊

Ooh if you like Lost, have you tried The Leftovers? It's my all-time favourite. Takes a bit of work, but most Damon Lindelof shows do. It also has a weird goat scene 😂

Yes the waffle party masks. Not really the sort of thing to get you in the mood! He did well to hold those two buttons for so long with a belly full of waffles. Hate to think what kind of punishment he's going to receive in S2.

Do you think they were actually doing anything with the numbers at work? I think it was all just psychological BS.

Ooh I will investigate. Thanks for the rec!

Yeah the work seems very pointless. I imagine the office arrangement can be a simulation to put the severance technology through its paces. It would explain what the other team was doing but, still, not the goats lol

Just started watching this show and I'm obsessed. Saving this thread and coming back to read everyone's comments when I've finished, probably by the end of today :ROFLMAO:

Got the last episode to watch today and can't focus on work because all I'm thinking about is this show :ROFLMAO:

Watched the episode last night where
Gemma is revealed as the Wellness woman (can't remember her name and don't want to Google for spoilers haha) and I was SHOOOOOK

Finished! What a show!

What does everyone think for season 2 and onwards? I think
Lumon is basically experimenting in real-time on these severed people with the goal of bringing others back to life, specifically Kier Eagan and all the other CEOs. Helena's father seemed to hint to this when he mentioned "The Revolving". It seems like the macrodata refinement will be involved in some way, either they're working on some AI data without realizing it, or it's a way of testing their emotional responses (hence why the numbers look 'scary'). "The Board" could come into this too - definitely seems like another AI-type experiment. I think Gemma/Ms. Casey is going to play a huge role too - definitely seems like Lumon may have taken her body (maybe in the name of 'scientific research') after the accident and they're attempting to bring her back to life in some way. She's very robotic and I'm guessing they probably switch her 'off' down in the Testing Room, but Cobel seems keen on trying to spur some memories for her by having her have contact with Mark, burning the candle found in Gemma's storage box from Mark's basement, etc.
I think Irving's story is fascinating too and he obviously has some history with the Testing Room given all his paintings. I wonder if he's been 'reset' somehow and that's why he's such a loyal and devoted worker now? Whereas his Outie seems more rebellious, drinking coffee all night to stay awake so he can fall asleep at work (severance doesn't seem to work when they're asleep hence his hallucinations of the black paint?)

That was such a word vomit but I could go on and on, it's fascinating!
