Rings of Power : Lord of the Rings - Amazon

I've recently rediscovered my love for the LOTR films and have even framed one of my old Frodo posters and put it up on the wall (I basically had my room wallpapered with Frodo in the early 2000s :ROFLMAO:) so I was really excited for this (even with no Frodo in it!). But I got half way through the first episode and it seemed so boring that I switched it off. I do find it hard not to compare the casts as the LOTR films had absolutely brilliant actors and actresses in it. But judging from comments here it gets better as it goes along so I will give it another chance!

Am wondering if the first episode was also the first one they filmed, it's quite common for TV shows to film episode 2 first then 1 so that the actors are a bit more comfortable with each other but it does get better with episode 2 with alot of them so thinking episode 1 was maybe just nerves with being first time round one another?

I think RoP is visually stunning. It makes me want to move to Middle Earth and live in a Hobbit hole lol. Although to be fair I've wanted to do that ever since I watched LOTR all those years ago, but the pace of RoP is very slow. We are now three/four episodes in and I wish it would pick up more, as there are eight episodes. I like the character Arondir and thought that the dwarves brought much needed excitement/movement to the show. I do cringe whenever Lenny Henry speaks, I think it's one of the worst attempts at an Irish accent that I've heard in a long time

I just can’t help but compare with House of the Dragon, I wish they weren’t out at the same time! It’s much slower and it has the opposite problem to HotD, too many storylines.. the script seems a little weak too. But I’ll still watch it all as I am a big LotR fan, I hope it picks up!
I’ve still been watching it. It is very slow paced but I’m still interested enough to keep watching (maybe not as invested as I am with HotD though). Like you, I’m just hoping it picks up as the season goes on. 🤞🏻

Starting to be glad it's only got 8 episodes in this season, feel like cause am on 6 I have to watch to the end now but am finding it so hard to continue, this one has been so slow, I know its all for build up for what I assume will help with series 2 but damn 😩

The scene with the formation of Mount Doom was pretty epic. I'm not invested at all in so many of the storylines though.

I watch the show with a friend who's a LoTR Lore Purist and I think he's gonna have an aneurysm before the end of this season.

Who do we think the Grey Meteor Guy is? I'm hoping it's not Gandalf.

Am thinking it might be, am not sure but it would make sense how gandalf become friends with the hobits if it did turn out to be, I also assume that was saruman in the white that was looking at the cretor, not quite sure why it seemed to have the feeling they were a villian looking for him, from what I remember I think gandalf an saruman were friends in the beginning an gandalf used to seek his advice

Gandalf and Saruman (and 3 other wizards) came to Middle Earth at the same time, but the lore is all over the place in this show so who knows if they're sticking to it or not.

I do like the idea that it's one of the other wizards we don't know much about, but I have a feeling it's gonna be Gandalf.

I thought maybe the villain at the crater might've been our first glimpse of Sauron.

Yeah it could really be any of them, they also made up the villian adar just for the show as well so this wizard might not even be one of the originals, but it does feel like it's pointing towards gandalf, the other one I forget his name, was in the hobbit an spoke to the animals, when he was using the fireflys it made me think of him
