So this was shown last night. Waiting until I get in from work to watch it. Tbh I am more excited about this that the GOT prequel. It has more emotional significance- the books, the films, everything Tolkien is just MORE.

I know the reviews were mixed (great cinematography but slow storyline and some bad acting) but I can’t wait to have LOTR back in our lives (and we got 2 episodes last night).

Anyone else watch it?

Haven’t watched it yet but will tonight. I’ll watch and judge for myself whether I like it or not, I love the trilogy and enjoyed The Hobbit.

It was alright. I can't help but compare it to House of the Dragon, which I enjoyed much more.

Galadrial's story is not gripping me at all and the actress is not great IMO. I'm more interested in Nori and the Stranger, and Theo and Bronwyn.
I agree, the actress really isn't great, the almost closed lips with talking an she's almost emotionless, I really don't want to compare the actors to the film series but god she's bad

Is it always going to be a hour? Anyone know or was that because it was the first one?

Looking forward to seeing more an hoping the actors improve, a bit of stiff acting going on with a few of them

I’ve only watched the first ep but I couldn’t stand the actor playing Galadriel, she was so unlikeable.

I’m only a casual LotR fan so I don’t really get much of the lore behind it but my partner was loving it (we’re in opposite camps, I’m enjoying HotD so much more than him). It looks absolutely fantastic but I suppose it should do for the money.

Watched the episodes last night. Visually stunning, bit slow to start and the acting is a bit shaky (Galadriel, I’m looking at you girl) but it’s only the second episode in. It took me ages to get into the first season of GoT so I’ve learnt to give things the benefit of the doubt. I’m interested to see what happens next in the story. Not as hyped about it as I am with HotD but enjoying it all the same.

I'm a Tolkien nerd who has actually read the Silmarillion and huge lover of the LOTR films, and I have no interest in this.

Am hoping it picks up, it has so much potential, am really intrested in how the rings were chosen for them all an how they were forged, I read all the books as a kid an felt apart from the hobbit the films did really good considering how in depth the books were

Am loving the story itself, an the scenes are beautiful, I heard they had a massive budget an it shows but I do agree some actors are letting this down especially the one playing galadriel

Everytime I think about it, I get dizzy. I'll watch the first episode later, I just came to check if there was a thread.

I think part of the problem is that everyone associates Galadriel with Kate blanchett and it’s then leading to a comparison with this unknown newcomer.
Not sure, I think she could be better if she manages to unclench her teeth when speaking.
Also Galadriel is supposed to be sage and wise beyond her years, while also being a great warrior, and we are getting a petulant girl boss who doesn't follow orders and its a bit selfish in her pursue. The second episode was better than the first, and I hope it gets better with time.

I think we'll need at least 4 to 4.5 episodes to set up every main characters and all the storylines.

This is my problem as well, it's the closed clenched teeth with talking I don't like an the almost stiff way she holds herself with little to no emotion at times, it's what's holding it back for me as its hard to really like her, Kate was a much more relaxed actress so it all come accross more natural, am hoping the actress will learn to relax as it goes on an it will get better
