Reboots and Remakes

Am I the only one sick of them!? It seems to be widespread lately, encompassing TV and films, all genres, even reality shows like Supernanny and Wife Swap have been rebooted. I saw an advert for Temptation Island the other day - I remember that being on when I was in school and I left school over 15 years ago!

Disney seems to be going down the live action routes for now. I wouldn’t be surprised if they attempted a real life Toy Story or Finding Nemo soon.

I thought the recent remakes/reboots (sorry, I don’t really know the difference) of The Craft and The Witches were bloody awful. So bad. I have heard rumours of some other of my childhood classic films being remade and I pray that it doesn’t happen 🙏🏽

Wondering what Tattlers generally make of them? Have there been any that are successful and you thought were well done?

I know it's not recent but The Addams Family films with Raul Julia and Angelica Houston are pretty much remakes of a 60s tv series. I think they were a success.

I think technology lets things down now . It is too clever. It's too much cgi . I preferred it when they used actual props and make up.

They should remake films / shows that had the potential to be good but were disappointing.

It does seem like there aren't many original ideas anymore. There have been so many awful remakes. I cringe when I hear classic films or TV shows are being remade.

I'm never quite sure about reboots. Perhaps they can work sometimes. I love Cobra Kai, which continues the story of The Karate Kid from well over 34yrs ago. That works really well and has been a real nostalgia hit.
