It will get annoying if Betty keeps going on about looking after her kid brother and how he needs to experience more. There isn't even a big age gap between them, 4 years? And she seemed to be the one who needed the help with her little break down over not knowing what to do and just sitting on the floor
We couldn't believe they went on about eating cheap then they ordered caviar!

Quite a few irritating personalities in this series but should still be a great watch.

When the two guys were talking about strategy and one wanted to experience Japan saying they shouldn't miss our on things they want to see it seemed like he didn't know anything about Japan really as he didn't say what it was he wanted to experience for a while and then picked the mountain
Totally agree, at the end of the day the only legs that really matter are the last two and saving as much money for the last leg.! For me I wouldn’t give a toss about the prize it’s about the experience. Felt sorry for his mate as he doesn’t seem to bad

I thought maybe they should've raced across Japan as he didn't seem to know what he wanted to see really, he didn't straight away say 'I want to see x'. Maybe in future countries he'll know what he wants to see so I would've waited if I was him and said since we didn't do anything in Japan let's do this in (country). Plus might've helped with money as Japan probably the most expensive place they'll be going?

I am caught up ( but still struggling to remember all the names)

I liked the older couple who just went to a baths. I don't think I could visit Japan and miss the opportunity to go to a bath house. Even if I was on the clock.

I feel like the 2 young lads are about to have a falling out, punch each other in the face and then quit the show.

I do not like Sister and Brother. She acts like she is more worldy and better than him, but she is just as clueless. I was laughing when they freaked out about the cost of the food, which was less than 20 quid. The price would have been on the menu. I thought it was actually quite reasonable for what they got, but I suppose they were on a budget.

Anyone else find it annoying how much of the time they focus on those final few mins of each stage? Yes I want to know what position they arrive in and the time difference but I’m not interested in them wandering around in the dark trying to read a Garmin and running pointlessly,

I want to see the remote countryside they visit, get inspiration for off the beaten path travel and be envious of the work that they pick up along the way, the elderly ladies free diving was fascinating.

They are clearly are given a structured journey, they must also be told they can only work so many times per stage as surely you would do as much as you could in Japan where there’s money to be made rather than wait till you work for peanuts in Thailand?

None of the couples stand out for me yet, I’m taking comfort in the fact I don’t actively dislike any the way I did the Canadian contestants (although I can feel the dislike building for the old bloke).

I did think the young boys seemed to have their heads screwed on till they lost the map, have none of them watched previous series?!

Made me also feel sad that our trip to Japan ended up being cancelled back in 2021, visited Tokyo many years ago and would love to go back, we were due to travel to Okinawa

That older couple is probably one to watch as they end up being tactically better. I think it was the first one where a pair of boring teachers won.

The brother sister pair are trying to get the vibe of the series 2 ones - Lizzie and Dom I think.

Girl who hates her mother is the vibe from the Dad and Daughter in the Canadian series

The two young guys are a bit WTF and will crash and burn early

I guess the other mum and daughter are 'the underdogs' this year. Grew up poor, daughter dyslexic.

Brother and sister been hauled all over daytime tv last few days so I predict they are in it until the end

Didn’t like the two teachers who won the first series, they were tactical with money etc but I felt for the poor guy when his back went and his missus moaned like crazy. They did do very well though but the other contestants got way more from the experience and all disappeared afterwards unlike the lot from the last two series. Darren and Alex still my faves as you watched that young lads personal growth and his dad was really good with him stepping back so he could gain new skills

Travelled across Japan a few years ago and I visited Sapporo and Nara so it was nice to see how they’d go about it without the Shinkansen (which I used). The people who work in bus/train stations do have a basic grasp of English and most of the direction signs do have English translation so I was confused when they said there’s no English? Obviously it’s a completely different culture & language but I personally found it easy to navigate around Japan. I was there for 6 weeks and went from Hokkaido to Okinawa, I’d love to go back.
