I’m really not liking the two young lads and the way they interact with people. They come across so rude whenever they speak to people and seem to show very little respect for culture.

Yes I felt this so much! When he was eating whilst walking the second time and said 'i've been made aware this is seen as rude in Japan but needs must' I was like 😳😳😳 not the way to experience a different country/culture

I think my favourite team so far is Isabel and Eugenie. Its impressive how quickly Isabel learned some Japanese phrases. Shame about them using so much of their budget early on. Hopefully they can make up some of the money they spent.

Same here.. her thirst to learn Japanese was very impressive and how quick she picked it up.. that will benefit them getting through Japan for sure.... they did use quite a larger percent of their budget so hopefully they will make it up as be a shame to run out of money - they've a long way to go !

I actually disagree, although maybe I need to rewatch it, it's always a lot to get used to a lot of new people and really focus on anyone. I thought things like you saw them bowing before leaving the shrine showed they were trying. They also knew that they were doing something that wasn't polite, which shows an awareness (albeit a certain level of disregard). There are a huge number of ways it's possible to offend in Japan because the cultural norms are so different and many of them are very subtle. Foreigners do tend to get a bit of latitude. I've probably inadvertently offended the Japanese in so many ways without meaning to.

The thing that actually jarred with me more was the older couple and the interaction with Jun and sort of asking how far he could take them. I know there was a sort of offer to begin with but it felt like the polite thing to do would have been to decline and insist you didn't want to impose. Likewise Isabel and Eugenie giggling their way out of the temple/shrine rather than being quite contrite about it.

Can’t stand the two young lads, rude and obnoxious.! The one who lost the map is the one I mentioned earlier on TikTok, all about the following and being a insta hun. They are not there for any experience and the eating was just rude. ‘Can’t look at Mount Fuji as I’m in race mode’ bore off.! I’m not feeling this series at all so far I know it’s only the first episode but just not got a good vibe about this series. Think it’s now four series in and applicants know what to expect, the first two series were brill. Bit like traitors etc where you get the wannabes. Is this really the best they could get out of the applicants
Can only hope it gets better

Alfie is the most annoying so far. Stephen also comes across as a bit of an arse, and I didn't need to see so much of his arse either 😅 Brydie and her mum seem nice. The rest are fine.

The line up for the second celeb series has been rumoured:

Ah someone on another thread speculated ages ago Scott Mills might be on as he'd been absent from his radio show for so long.
Not overly wowed by the rest tbh.
Oh well.

I like the two lads too.

The only couple I didn't warm to is the older one, especially the guy. I found him to be less respectful in how he spoke to others (when he should know better). And rhe wife is basically like 'yeah he's always like this', not really an excuse

They are racing, so in fairness it's rare that they can stop and eat so eating on the move I don't think is the biggest sinIn this context.

I had a feeling right at the start that the two lads would lose the map. Didn't initially warm to Isabel (I can't remember all the names after one episode) who didn't seem to get on with her mum that well bit she was amazing picking up Japaese. The older man seems like he might get annoying, his wife was OK. Didn't feel like we saw a lot of Sharon and Brydie but they seem OK. Betty and her brother seem OK too.

Isobel reminds me of that daughter last year who seemed spoiled and attitude and was travelling with her dad. She was impressive with strategy and learning language so maybe I'll warm to her.

Met so many men like the older guy and I don't have much time for them tbh

It will get annoying if Betty keeps going on about looking after her kid brother and how he needs to experience more. There isn't even a big age gap between them, 4 years? And she seemed to be the one who needed the help with her little break down over not knowing what to do and just sitting on the floor

I can't believe the prize is only £20,000.

I was grateful I was watching with subtitles when they were in the thermal baths.

Super impressive how quickly Isobell picked up the language and had the confidence to actually use it.
The prize isn't enough to encourage a race other than perhaps on the last stage. Why miss great stuff or experiences just for half of £20k?!

It's not just the prize though is it, it's an amazing once in a lifetime experience. I think that's what most people are doing it for
