I know they are a bit irritating, they are a bit fussy for me, but I don’t mind them. I think it’s the country choice / lack of route options that irritates me more!
(And I love Canada, it just doesn’t really work for a race).

I agree, I think also having family in similar situation to her I also sympathise and can see how amazingly she is handling it. Her sight doesn't 'come and go', sightloss is far more complex than that and it's amazing what people can do to cope when they lose one sense. Even now I get caught of guard when I think they can't see something but they can, albeit distorted/blurred/outlines etc.
 
BBC did them all dirty with the Grand Prix weekend or it was really bad planning!! 🤣

What a bad edit at the end! Bad enough already that three teams ended up on the same bus again and all had to run to try and beat each other (not sure why it matters apart from the final stage). But I would have liked to have seen Zainib and Mobeen’s reaction to arriving first after being 24hrs behind! And did they show how they managed it or have I not paid enough attention?

Me and my friend had to share a single top bunk in a hostel room when we were backpacking and there was a big event on 😂 they don’t seem to use night buses a lot in this series which saves money, only Ladi and Monique. Last series we could have had a shot every time Jen let us know when she last had a shower, brushed her teeth or changed her pants 😂 Kevin and Claudia were acting like the cost of a hotel was the reason they have no money, they’ve been over spending all throughout on unnecessary taxis. I’ve warmed to Zainib this episode though.
 
Massive advantage for Zainab and Mobeen now. I reckon it will be close between them and Monique and Ladi for the win. The older ladies seem to be falling apart a bit. Kev and Claudia realistically have no chance to reach the next leg. You never know with producer magic though, seems a lot more dodgy this year.
 
There are a lot of holes in these trips. Credibility being stretched.

Ladi and Monique for me. Love their relationship.
The last ones please - Claudia and Kevin. They are hard to feel sympathy for. She should not have come on the trip. She hates him.
Zainab realising she’s been a bit of a witch to her long suffering husband was good to see. He is a nice man.
The two other ladies bore me but kudos to the visually impaired lady. Not easy.
 
I almost felt sorry for Kevin as it dawned on him that it was all falling apart. He just seemed so oblivious to it at first. Claudia looked like she didn't want to be there and let her irritation at him show. I don't think it would have made much difference if they hadn't gone to Niagara Falls, they would have still run out of money.

They just don't seem capable of thinking outside the box like the others, so throw money at the problem to make it go away. The two ladies showed it was possible to get cheap board for the night by leaving the city. If they had been more personable I'm sure they could have blagged a sofa off one of the guys they were working for or something. Other couples seem to get more favours from people but these two don't seem willing to ask.

I really didn't like Kevin at first but feel quite sorry for him now. He keeps trying to keep Claudia happy but she is determined to be dismissive and irritated with him whatever he does. She won't give him an inch. I get she is cross with him for past stuff, but she needs to try to get over it for her sake as much as anything, as she doesn't seem happy.
 
I don’t understand how they got there first they seemed so far behind for the whole episode. I thought their train was just to Montreal but I assume it must’ve been all the way to Quebec City?
Kevin’s now realising it’s not taxi across the world 😄
I think if I was Kevin/Claudia I’d spend the rest of the money if possible going to visit something in the next leg. They most likely will run out and not finish so imo may as well spend the money on an experience then pull out. I’m sure there’s something Claudia wants to do there always seems to be. I don’t understand why Kevin wouldn’t just ask where the ticket office was!
How annoying for the older ladies with the job they had planned. But they were clever getting out of town unlike Kevin/Claudia. I’m actually surprised how cheap the ladies got the motel.
I’m sure next leg there will be a lot of working going on.

Zaniab and mobeen got a train from ottowa directly to quebec city. The other teams stopped in Montreal while they bypassed it. This helped them be first at the checkpoint and helped them get a 11 and half hour lead over the other teams.
 
Poor Producer, thought he'd finally got some exciting footage, only for them to land up on the train together! 🤦‍♀️

I'm giving the ladies a bit more leeway now tbh, it's obvious they're both not great under stress & you can see some anxiety reactions in both of them. They must have been warned how stressful it might be, but being "in it" is obviously different, perhaps a challenge too far for them.
 
Does anyone else think they don’t get enough budget as it’s all spent on coaches and trains (and taxis)

Does their budget exclude food? I don’t see the budget counter on screen going down when they buy food etc

It’s the whole point though for them to do it for the same price as a plane ticket but allowing work as they know it wouldn’t be possible without a bit extra.
I think it does include food I’m sure other seasons did as well as the mum/son combo and son kept buying a lot of food. Also this season didn’t Claudia speak about eating stale bread or something and they always love the free food like the woman got the poutine this episode and the husband/wife got the cheese.
Food probably just doesn’t take 1% of the budget so it won’t be shown on the % tracker?

The budget they get covers their food, accommodation and travel costs. I read a intresting article about the show and it talked about the budget they get and the situation with food. In the article previous contestant emon said that due to the situation with food he lost over a stone in weight and they would ask strangers to give them some food and drink. In this series we have seen contestants taking extra food at breakfast, earning money to spend on food and being given free food. This was the article i read.
