She deserves her own thread. I hope she has success as a solo artist and doesn't bomb like her band mates. She looks amazing in her photo shoot. I am shocked she's never lived with Alex. Seems an odd arrangement, but it seems to work for them.

They definitely lived together in lockdown so that article is a lie 😂
They’ve lived together for years really, she moved into his house in London after Lockdown. She is just a hermit and chooses to stay in London with her cousin while he chooses to have a career away from her.

I know she was really young, but I never understood how she kept taking Zayn back again and again after he cheated. He ended up dumping her anyway.

I’m a fan of Perries and love’s her new song but I can’t help but think the song is about Zayn. I know she didn’t write the song but the story behind the lyrics definitely sounds like it resembles her ex relationship. I hope she smashes her solo career 🫶🏻

Jesy seemed more bothered about it than she did...to the point you would have thought she was the one he had cheated on. She kept making digs and I get sticking up for your friend but this was something else, more so when it was clear Perrie wasn't comfortable with it.

I feel like the remaining girls left it too late to start their solo careers. But whether that was their decision or their management's remains in the ether.

The cynic in me thinks that main labels thwart their groups going solo as the music industry is basically dead as it is, they stand to make more money from group tours with the variety of tours. Groups show multi dimension and broader appeal.

What happened with the marketing of harry styles post 1D compared to the other boys is a prime example. It's obvious how he was marketed with the help of very clever PR and tabloids into a multifaceted celebrity caricature with an interesting life and he gained an almost icon image from style and notoriety, not just music.

Perrie could have had similar success to someone like Becky Hill if the management and label had really pushed it. She needed a collab to launch her. All these soft launches, the fact the likes of capital are now playing a lot of older music. I don't know if the industry can create another stand alone superstar solo artist anymore.

Her second single has flopped and her first didn't set the chart alight. If she's not careful she could end up dropped by her label. Cowell put Little Mix in to a group because they didn't have the personalities to be a solo act. It appears nothing has changed because the three who have done solo songs so far have all disappointed.

Agreed except Cowell had nothing to do with making them a group.

The dynamics of being a solo artist have changed so much in recent years though, you really need to have the 'pizzazz' or a USP to become someone in your own right, especially after being in a group. I also think the group had so much promo for their last album and as soloists have had hardly anything.

Popbitch about a year ago hinted that the girls own record labels were delaying their releases as they weren't confident of their solo careers. They have the metrics first hand.

Take a look at 1D, harry styles had a complete rebrand after his first album. He had an image curated for him by his label and or PR. It kept him in popular culture and gave him boost.

It's the same with new emerging artists, Chapel Roan who is this gens Lady Gaga. Katy Perry was originally a Christian singer who rebranded herself. Pink was rebranded early in her career too. Of groups, out of the spice girls I'd say only Mel C had significant success because she really defined herself afterwards. Same with Cheryl to an extent.

Perrie too struggles to shake her group image. What is her USP, if she's just returning to pop why is it safe pop. I think she's a phenomenal vocalist but should have possibly rebranded in another genre or image.

Perrie has such an amazing vocal range but her solo songs so far have been weak.
Not sure who she is trying to appeal to audience wise but I thought the hairstyle the gold dress, the shoes and the dance routine at the capital summertime ball was very middle aged cruise ship singer.
I'm praying her next song is a banger and she gets a decent stylist.

I think the gold looks good on her. Agree about her voice though, it's wasted on the songs she's putting out. I saw a video of her with Mylene class on piano singing a Celine Dion song at a wedding they both attended, it was phenomenal, why is she bring out such weak songs when she had a voice to vival the likes of Celine?!
