Murder island

Not really but i feel invested in it now!

It’s a bit weird though because they had their first elimination
Dot and Rox
and then the voice over was keen to emphasise that unless anyone gets any evidence rather than speculation someone else will be sent home. It’s almost like they are suddenly wrapping the show up and getting it all done with.

It’s so hard to get actual evidence though. The guys got close as during an interview Tony agreed to hand over his mobile so they could check text history between him and charlie but he legged it 😂. They didn’t notice he was gone until the senior detective pointed it out and then they managed to catch him in the act of hiding a brick of cocaine. They then interviewed him about the cocaine but he was lawyered up an “no commenting” but the guys got criticised for giving up too early.

The teams had to present their boards and evidence to the chief lady and as usual gobby of the two old ladies was giving it all the overegging and wouldn’t shut up. At the end the older lady said one sentence which may be critical to the case that nobody else had discovered and that basically saved them! She is so under appreciated by the horrible bossy one of the two.

Things discovered:

Logan (the young lad) told the old ladies that after the pub meeting about selling land that he went straight home at 9-9:30 but his mum (the photographer woman who was driving past charlies house when alicia flagged her down after finding the body) went to hamish’s house to check on him before coming home later that night. Contradicts her story but the detectives (only the old ladies know) need to clarify the story somehow to see if it is a clue.

Freddy has an extensive criminal record involving drugs, assault and murder; although he was cleared in court. Tony has a criminal past involving assault and class b and c drug dealing. Other suspects had no records.

Tony was found hiding a brick of cocaine. He said nothing when questioned so they interviewed his wife. She said that a boy in her class had found it on the beach (before the murder) and handed it to her. She was going to hand it to the police but forgot with the death drama going on. They checked off screen with the parents of the kid who verified that story but a flashback scene showed that that was all a lie. Tony had told sonya that he was going to try selling but she was very against it but she kept to the cover story for him. I was a bit surprised because that means the family of the boy who found it were in on the lie too?

I'm still watching just cause I need to know who the murderer was, it's a shame because I think this show could have been so much better but its all a bit flat the contestants spoil it for me they haven't got a clue. I wonder if maybe they used criminology students instead of Joe public at least they would have some idea how to solve the murder.

Not surprised to read who was eliminated.

Rox, or Dot, I can never tell them apart, said she bought an online diploma from a university that had 8 assignments until you are qualified so she would know what to do 😂

One of the young lads said his dad is/was a detective and hoped one of his 4 kids would follow in his footsteps but none of them did. The lad was sure he knew enough from his dad’s advice that they would win.

I must admit I have a new found respect for the actors in the show. It must be hard doing unscripted interviews because you could be asked anything and have to respond immediately with not only the correct verbal answer but also the correct body language. Plus they have to remember everything they have previously said to other detectives so the narrative still works. If they had criminology students it would be easier because they could anticipate the questions but these lot can literally come up with anything and catch them off guard which then comes across as guilt.

I’m itching for the gobby old woman to be given the boot so the older one can win on her own and keep the £50k to herself 😀

I'm still watching but it's bit tit now as it seems to have diverted away from who killed Charly and turned into this big mystery about who's dealing drugs.

Either Tony killed her because he found out about the baby and he didn't want it to ruin his relationship with Sonya or it was Logan on Freddy's instructions. It was a stab in the abdomen but I can't remember where (if it was near the uterus or not) so maybe someone was trying to kill be baby.

I thought the latest ep was swinging towards Alicia but I don’t think it is her. With Freddy saying she had attacked him with a broken wine glass whilst angry I thought he was just distracting attention from himself. Her hair was found in Charleys house but that could have been planted by Freddy who would have access to her hair.

I don’t know if the show is giving us any clues at the minute, but would Hamish and Logan be out of the running since they both had that meeting in the open where Logan was told by Hamish not to smoke etc. Both stories collaborated so I didn’t know if that was a way of saying they were both innocent.

I have a new theory (i am as bad as the detectives for having ideas with no backup!) I think the pregnancy has more to do with anything than the land/drugs. I think word got out about her being pregnant and Ishbar immediately thought her son Logan could be the father. I think she knows about him being a bit of a peeping tom and went over there to try and convince charley to leave and things escalated. But i dont think logan was the father.

I think the pub owner guy is the father but maybe that’s too obvious 🤔 when Charley came to the island she said something about what happens in Glasgow stays in Glasgow so I wonder if there was history with her and pub man. Can’t remember his name. Tim? Tom?

I’m not sure who did it yet but looking forward to next weeks episode.
Unpopular opinion I’m quite enjoying it but think the way the detectives introduce themselves is so stupid 😂
The two girls were so dim and glad they were booted out, even if they were funny

Did anyone used to watch an odd little programme presented by Susan Calman a couple of years ago called Armchair Detectives? It was on in the afternoons.
Strangely addictive.
Yes I liked it! Acting was super cringe and cheesy though and the murderer was usually the one that looked most sinister 😂

As soon as they mentioned the missing dictaphone I immediately thought it would be on the South beach. It was so obvious from the dad’s video that that is where it would be hidden.

I would have gone straight there and been the one to find it first, but would I have been penalised for going on a hunch rather than interviewing a suspect and following their lead?

The couple who interviewed Jean picked up on her clue first so they found the evidence first. Likewise there was a hidden clue in charleys house to lead the boys there but it took them longer to find that clue. So would every person on the island have mentioned that clue if the team had chosen to investigate tony, or freddy for example?

I was really into this show at the start but it really has fallen flat. Drip feeding clues and evidence isn’t fair on the teams or the viewers and it isn’t a real reflection on how the system really works.

If that dictaphone had been there from day one it would be more credible but given the rainy weather it was clear it was planted there just before the two teams were actively looking for it!

I would have loved to watch the actual detectives who have exactly the same evidence, etc as the contestants try to solve it alongside them. Separate from those competing so they can still win a prize but would have found it more interesting to watch 'normal' people investigate (with guidance and support) alongside professionals.

Either way the show is a flop but I can't stop watching out of spite 🤦🏻‍♀️

I missed most of it tonight. Did they find out who the father of her baby was?

It was an IVF baby from when she was in a long term relationship with another woman before she came to the island.

Bit of an anticlimax I thought. I lost interest when they were presenting their evidence and the detective women kept saying that they needed more. They needed more concrete evidence. Well give them some to find then! I hated the drip feeding of evidence and then complaining that the team weren’t finding enough.

I think whoever they picked as the main suspect they were going to say it was correct and they win £50k.

There was an equal amount of evidence / motive for each person so I think they just changed the person depending on who they picked.
