In an answer to someone seeking advice for giving up alcohol:

It’s quite simple. You stop drinking by stopping drinking. Find some soft drinks you like. Don’t buy alcohol.

Well, sweet baby Jesus and the Virgin Mary, mumsnet has solved alcoholism!!! Hallelujah.
Ffs. Tell everyone you live in a 5 bedroomed gated, blackout curtained, house earning 650 figures, shaking and sobbing on the alcohol aisle and had a hangover once when ypu were 26, without telling everyone... Stupid witch

Did youse catch the one where OP complained her husband shared the contents of a gifted F&M hamper with his team at work and, would you know, the bastard didn't even bother to bring the empty hamper home.

Someone I shared a house with back in the '90's was a fecker for that. He would raid the kitchen for anything I had made myself and pass it off as all his own work - usually when trying to impress a woman.

I had to go to Sainsbury's at 12pm to pick up an argos order and get something for dinner and it was like being in hell. Why do people take their whole fecking families though, the only time I set foot in a supermarket with my husband is on holiday.

I shall be doing my Christmas big shop at 5am tomorrow, like a sensible person, and with zero members of my family with me.

My mother has just blown up a pan full of boiled eggs. An eggsplosion. I'm staging a Christmas dinner intervention. She is a hazard. I can just imagine what she'd do with a Mumsnet Christmas fridge.

And now she's just dropped a pan of green vegetables all over the kitchen floor. That's it. I'm finding somewhere to go out for Christmas lunch or we're all going to starve.

I suspect some of you thought I was kidding about her cooking. I really, really wasn't.

It’s kicking off about while families clogging up the aisles in supermarkets at this time of year. I’ve got to go to M&S in the morning so I’m sharpening my elbows in preparation 😁

I saw that one. I used to work in a supermarket and we are in a holiday destination so summer is probably worse for having groups of people debating pizza choices and blocking the aisles. I was a home delivery picker so was running round like an idiot trying not to run over feral children sliding on the floor in front of me.

I don’t miss that job at all 🤣🤣

This won't be up long so I'm sharing it here so you can all see it. Also please list what car you had at 19 so I know if I owe you any respect.

My friend and I decided to watch the Manchester Derby at my house, but instead of paying for the game, he brought over his jailbroken Firestick to stream it. I tried to avoid using it, suggesting we just pay for the match, and I even offered to cover the cost completely, but he refused. As the night went on, I started to worry because if the police showed up, I’d be held responsible since the illegal stream was at my house, even though the idea and device were his. I had seen news about police conducting home visits over jailbroken Firesticks, but he brushed it off as exaggerated. Still, I felt it was better to pay for the game legally, especially since the stream was at my place.

I mentioned that our area was one of the ones targeted by the police for these visits, but he jokingly suggested that if the police came, I should take the fall and claim it was my fault. They havent come yet but if they do he doesn't want to face the consequences, but I wasn’t going to cover for him. He also was getting a bit rude about it that I should take the blame which I wasn't having, I had a brand new Ford Cortina Ghia at 19 years old, I deserve to be treated better and Im not just some punching bag you could talk to like he did and throw the blame on like he did. Honestly, I thought it might be more fitting for him to deal with the consequences after dragging me into this mess, it was at my address but I kept saying loads of times that I'd just pay but he refused and wouldn't take no for an answer.
