Mumsnet #47 I prefer not to turn up to weddings dressed as an ominously shaped lump of toothpaste

Congrats to D @cat_follower for the thread title and to D @Serene Serena on the birth of our new tattler DBetsi. A hamper full of sister wife dresses for Cat and a hamper full of bows and beige sleepsuits from Toast for Serena.

Mumsnetters continue to be absolutely bleeping batshit as per usual, please continue documenting their Dmadness here

Edit: Just wanted to also say let's all think of our D @bread-pitt who is about to face their 2nd hurricane in 2 weeks. Take care mate ❤

I haven't put a bow on Betsi yet, but my Nan has been to the market and got her a very frilly pink lacy dress with matching knickers, socks AND a hairband. It's not going to fit her for a while and when it does, I am going to take a photo of her, and save it until she's 18, then use it as a cake topper. #topmum
Nan is over the moon at having a granddaughter so I think we'll be getting lots of pink. She's of the generation where girls wear pink and boys wear blue and that is that. Maybe I could buy Betsi a miniature rainbow fedora?

Bold of you to assume her gender.

I dont think this particular sister wife will be joining us.

Ooohhh they hate putting girls in Pink especially when the MiL buys them a pink girly outfit. They are so Miserable

PINK??? Don't let her anywhere DBetsi unsupervised, she'll be straight down to Claire's to get her ears pierced!
She probably would as well. She took me and my sisters en masse to have our ears pierced when we were kids. My mum was not impressed but we all thought we were the bees knees and all the other girls in the street were well jel.

When I say we were kids, we were aged 5 - 15, not just a few days old.

I thought I’d have a look at past threads re: baby bows, because one thing I hate to have is a healthy blood pressure, and found one with 15 pages. Fifteen whole pages of people bitching about what people put on their babies’ heads, also touching on prams and outfits of course. (Pink is NOT ALLOWED only UTILITARIAN BEIGE CLOTHES and also NAVY DUNGAREES for girls; anything else is treating your child like a doll and is FORBIDDEN) Here’s two of my favourites, especially the totally normal person who has a ‘baby chav list.’ Slide my daughter to the top of that list because headbands make her look like a tiny wee nan getting her messages from the shop and I think that’s nice 🥳

Thank you ❤
Just catching up over there, pee trolls, £100k dreamers and babies called Joan. Busy day it seems.
David Mitchell's new baby is called Joan I think, or maybe June. The other one is called Barbara. Perfectly nice names, but for me, they conjure up a couple of older ladies gossiping on the bus about the state of youngsters these days.
