Midnight Mass - Netflix

Anyone else watched it? Really really enjoyed it, not what I was expecting at all, really good!
Thought provoking at times and I’m not religious one bit (not wanting to offend anyone x)
If you haven’t watched it I highly recommend it and if you have do you think with the ending as it was ( don’t want to give any spoilers!!) do you think it will have another season?? 🙏

I think this writer and director (and any of the shared Canadian production team) should certainly continue finding folklore your tales of the unexplainable to present in their special way!
Because of the shared cast members and production, I almost saw this series as the third in the sequence after The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manor... And I would love these projects to continue, even though I don't see any need for a 2nd season of Midnight Mass because the story was sufficiently concluded.

Considering I was only turned on to this sequence of series due to my fandom of Rahul Kholi (the sheriff in midnight mass & cook in Bly Manor) and I follow his career watching everything he does because he's friends with Funhaus and Gavin Free at Rooster Teeth who happens to be my first cousin, I got so much more out of it than I could imagine. Really thought provoking dramatic stories, an air of a mystery to solve, beautifully performed and finally set +shot in some absolutely stunning locations! What more could you want from your Netflix series?

Aaaaah I love The Haunting series and was so excited to see Midnight Mass!
I really love how although it’s not a third season you can still tell it’s the same creators, it’s something about the colours and the long long scenes of dialogue that suck you in.
We’ve got 2 episodes left and we’re trying to only watch one a week to spread it out up to Halloween.

I watched the first two episodes but haven't got any further. I was really looking forward to it but felt it was a bit meh.

Maybe I wasn't in the right mood and will carry on for a few more episodes.

I do like all the cast and was big fan of Hill House and Bly Manor.

Loved Haunting of Hill House, got through the second one and knocked Midnight Mass off half way through.

Just finished the series tonight and I thought it was bloody incredible.

Just loved the clever way how they managed to twist the perspective of the story using religion, definitely food for thought. Well acted throughout, I thought a little weak in the reasoning of Why, they chose to do what they did (trying to avoid spoilers). Otherwise bravo! Hope to see more from the director/producers in future

I enjoyed it overall, but I thought some of the
monologues were too long and frequent. I was like... yeah I get it, stop talking now. Found it a bit pretentious.

I liked the doctor’s response about how ‘crazy’ the situation was, and related it to hundreds of years ago, people thinking a Hungarian doctor was insane for discovering germs on our hands.

I thought Riley was like a video game character. I didn’t warm to or have much interest in him.

I thought the ‘angel’ was well done. Horribly creepy and so disturbing. When it was ‘feeding’ it was a mix of it looking animalistic and like sexual assault. Really disturbed me.

Hill House it still the stand out for me, then Midnight Mass, then Bly Manor (what were those English accents)

I had to look up Oliver Jackson Cohen ( Peter Quint & Luke Crain) to see what nationality he was ... turns out he's English!! Henry Thomas was the absolute worst though.

I gave up on Midnight Mass as I guessed the story line very quickly. I think it was the weakest of the three.

I loved it, really loved it. HH & BM are very good shows. I felt this one was better. The monologues I found captivating. Especially Riley and Erin. I loved the way they used the Bible passages to explain what was happening. As if it was all perfectly reasonable that a winged demon was hanging around, age was reversing and medical phenomenons had taken place. Yet they were all so reluctant to leave the island as though they were scared someone would say ‘this is wrong.’ I think they managed to cover all parts of the human nature that religious types say twisted the Bible’s teachings. Sorrow, remorse, love, fight or flight instincts, control and Bev was that one ego maniac that takes it all to far. Like all potential tyrants do. Happy as long as she maintained her position of power. Loved it 👍

Really enjoyed it and weirded out by how they made bible passages justify things.

Bev and her constant striving to be morally superior than other islanders while showing she actually has no sense of morality or conscience was a great representation of Christian extremism but I'm sure plenty of religious people could recognise themselves in one little comment or judgement somewhere was powerful. But the Bible verse manipulation was so real and highlights so much about the flaws of thinking in absolutes with religion.

I loved the Sheriff and when he explains what he believes as a Muslim and it is made super obvious how clueless+ blind his social rejection on the island had been because they didn't even know what they were hating. Explaining he actually has deep respect for Jesus as a prophet and the church for emotional support and hope and guidance, I felt it was an important thing to spell out from an educational standpoint. Many religions don't actually conflict in what they offer to people... But they do that in different ways.

Hope that made sense. There were artistic themes, educational points, reflections of all kinds of society, challenging the concept of being human, and that is always stimulating viewing and thinking!
