I think Laura was very fond of him but he really doesn't come across that bright. I know people have talked about English not being his first language but no, he speaks perfectly well enough. I know plenty of people whose first language isn't English and they dont come across that way. I can't imagine engaging with him on anything of interest. I don't love Laura but have warmed to her and she is, at the very least, articulate.

I think you are right, she finds him attractive and nice, but that is not enough for a longer relationship
