Ok so we know most shows are now scripted. Do you really believe that they'd let a groom marry someone then go SUPRISEEEEEE. I think not. He'll have been asked during the process what he's comfortable with etc otherwise they'd be a big scandal.

Yes Ella was born a male but has now transitioned to female 🤷🏽‍♀️ it's just the way the world is nowadays. By saying no trans that's like saying no gays like they did back in the days. I could go further and say people use to kick off about non white people on TV etc. It might be against people's beliefs which everyone is entitled too but you all the know the score with the daily fail. It's to cause controversy.

I don't think there is an issue with there being a trans participant it is more the crap framing MAFS has gone with to try and make it seem like it was a big secret that has backfired. If it comes out in the show that her partner was amenable to a trans match prior to being matched then that's fine, though it is also less juicy for the tv producers trying to pump their ratings.

I think it's a definite mis-step to represent it as a secret sprung on an unwitting partner as people have a right to know when embarking in a potentially intimate relationship. I know some posters on here have said they've been called transphobic because as gay women they wouldn't date a trans woman who still has male genitals. I think people are free to be trans but people are also free to make decisions on who they date, even in this unrealistic format.

But surely you can’t compare gay people to trans people. And comparing trans people to black people is pretty offensive.
Gay people just happen to be attracted to people of the same sex as them. It’s not a lifestyle choice, it’s completely normal. I think it’s pretty disgraceful that it took MAFS so long to include gay couples. A gay bride or groom wouldn’t need to be forewarned that a gay person would be coming up the aisle like they apparently had to for Ella.
Ella is literally the elephant in the room, and expecting people to pretend they can’t see it is ridiculous.
I have to say that I’ve got nothing against Ella as a person. He’s made his choices and I don’t bear him any animosity AT ALL. (And yes, I said he. Ella was born a man and despite the surgeries will die a man. That’s not being rude or unkind or bigoted, it’s a biological fact).
I’m not saying trans people shouldn’t be allowed on tv. But I am saying that the level of pandering to a tiny subset of the population is completely disproportionate. If you are willing to accept that Ella is a woman ( nope ) then surely by definition you have to accept that every man who claims to be a woman is one? Yep, let’s throw open the changing rooms, the domestic violence refuges, the rape crisis centres and lesbian spaces. Not a bleeping chance.

I'm glad your friend is honest, but how can he feel like a woman.
This is no ond way to feel like a woman.Women range from Love Island full makeup boob jobs high heels type to those with short hair who wear no makeup and enjoy DIY and football. All are valid but all have XX chromosomes
Womanhood is not just wearing a pretty dress, high heels and makeup, just because society has regressed into rigid sex sterotypes it doesn't mean that liking typically female stuff if you are male makes you a female or vice versa.

Are they saying this was somehow relevant information because there is something different about a trans woman to regular women??? Obviously not true, they’re literally the same thing, etc etc. What terrible bigots and TERFs, cancel them, etc etc etc.

Yes. We kind of need to start again with this whole thing sadly. Being a man or woman is based on your chromosomes and DNA, the end. There’s no right way to be a man or a woman, it’s totally okay for a man to dress as a woman if he wants, it’s a free country and I totally support someone expressing themselves, but that of course doesn’t make him a woman.

Gender Dysphoria is a real thing though, so cleary some people do feel like they are not the sex they were born as. It's not just because they want to dress masculine/feminine or enjoy masculine/feminine things.

I think it's a very complex issue.

Womanhood isn’t just external, it’s what is on the inside, the ‘wiring’. That can extend beyond chromosomes.

My friend feels and looks like a woman. Most days she doesn’t wear make up, and she is dressed in jeans and a TShirt. That’s enough for her 🙏🏻

Gender Dysphoria is no longer required to be trans.

There absolutely is, and it’s full of sense.
The thing is, this IS MAFS, and we are discussing one of the participants. The ONLY participant who has been all over Twitter, Instagram and the newspapers. It’s almost as though the other couples have been reduced to bit parts in the Ella show.
