Yep I get Twin Peaks / True Detective vibes. Need to watch Happy Valley, a friend has recommended for the same reason.
I also really like that the slight age difference between Mare and Colin was never really an issue or even ‘addressed’. Cos why should it be, hey.
Re: Dylan, he’s so horrible, isn’t he? Not sure if they’re leading towards any sort of redemption arc for him but right now he’s just vile (apart from any residual love he has for DJ).

I'm not sure what the deal is with spoiler tags. I noticed last week a post was spoiler tagged by a mod after the episode had aired as it discussed plot details - so I really don't know. I don't check this thread until after the show has aired on Monday night/or until I have watched it but I've seen updates to the thread before it airs in the UK so presume people are watching in the US etc. So maybe it's just easier to spoiler tag.
I'm pretty sure I didn't know this - but it's good to know!

I keep changing my mind on the suspects in the murder, but I always thought it was the BFF neighbours husband. But now you have suggested Guy Pearce's character has a small role, it is making me think differently.

Ok cool - let’s not bother with spoilers! I always think if you’re reading a thread about a show or film then you have to be cool with the fact there may be spoilers
So if you’ve read the online review (do you read the A V Club one - I think that’s a good one) then you know what happens to Evan

I would usually only put a spoiler tag if something was an actual spoiler (as in, if something leaked online before the episode aired). After the episode has aired, I reckon anything goes!

Oh definitely, if something has aired its free reign to discuss. On a FB page after the LOD finale some lady who is way behind bitched & moaned about people discussing it

I did appreciate the spoiler tag yesterday about Colin though because it made it more exciting last night! I would’ve been devo’d! Though I’ll just make sure I don’t come on here until after I’ve watched it, like I did with the LOD threads.

Katie said the girl was called Hilary. Mare later mentioned another girl named Hilary that went missing a while back that was found dead

I had a thought last night that this could all be connected to some sort of sex ring and was interested to see who else was attending that poker game. However, now I think that maybe these girls are completely unconnected to Erin and now that the mystery has been solved, the last two episodes will concentrate on solving Erin's murder. The BFF husband and that guy Billy seem shady - but it's a bit too obvious. I feel like Billy might be the father of Erin's child - but not the murderer. Guy Pearce surely has a bigger part to play? Also, Dylan is a nasty piece of work and now we find he was AWOL on the night Erin was murdered.
I doubt the third girl who got pregnant was left alive.

I'm afraid Colin really wasn't very good at his job. He was assigned to this job because he had supposedly solved that other hard-to-solve case (when really he hadn't, which he told Mare just before he got shot. Foreshadowing!) Also, Mare had to tell him to draw his gun?! Things would have been different if Mare had a gun, I'm sure. Although I also don't understand why they didn't retreat and call for backup as soon as they saw the Winstons (didn't fit the storyline, I guess!)

God when they saw the Winstons and the guy went off to turn off that music, Evan should have had his gun drawn and concealed then.
