I think itā€™s got to be John? All of the things Lori said made me think John hadnā€™t been having an affair (with that other woman, at least). Like she said she noticed all the signs the last time but they hadnā€™t been there this time. Then I think John told Lori that Billy confessed and was DJā€™s father etc then was going to take Billy away and kill him, maybe stage a suicide? Which would put John in the clear especially with their dad confirming Billy had come home covered in blood. I think Billy maybe woke up covered in blood and thought heā€™d killed her. We never heard him confirming he was DJā€™s father or anything like that.

I think this too. The name on the jewellers invoice didnā€™t specify which one it was. And from what Lori said I think the affair couldā€™ve been with Erin

I hope Iā€™m not going to be disappointed in episode 7! Are there any other loose ends we need tying up?
 
So is that Guy Pearce over and out then? He never had anything to do with anything?! :D

I think the murder weapon is key to this. They mentioned the gun was an older issue rifle - like the one Mare's dad might have had. Who would have a gun like that lying around? I presume any gun Mare's dad had would have to be returned to the police dept., but what if it was left in the attic - the same attic Mare hasn't been in since her son died. Who has frequent access to Mare's house? I think there are more twists to come: What if Lori found out about John and Erin and she killed Erin?

I think John brought Billy to the lake to kill him for sure. Billy is the fall guy. Unless Mare gets that call, though, she's going to show up and think Billy is the big bad. Hope she doesn't shoot the wrong guy.

I thought the same about Lori. And maybe John knows and is trying to protect her by letting his brother take the fall.

I also wondered about Siobhan. She went AWOL round about the time Erin was killed and Mare couldnā€™t contact her the whole next day. She looked momentarily panicked when Mare asked her where sheā€™d been the night before. Maybe she had access to the gun? I donā€™t know what her motive would be though, unless her brother has more to do with all of the main storyline than currently appears.

Dylan is just an asshole!! It's possible he doesn't want the identity of DJ's real father revealed in order that his parents' get to keep DJ - but that doesn't really make sense to me as he never seemed to have any real interest in the kid before. There has to be something more to it.

Ooh yes! Good call on Siobhan and the gun. Siobhan is (understandably) more messed up than we first thought. That was pretty evident in tonight's episode with her behaviour with her girlfriend and her meltdown with Mare.

When her mum stepped forward to hug and comfort her I cried - after gasping loudly at the slap šŸ˜‚
Poor Mare going to check on Freddie and finding what she did after what she had discussed with her therapist.

Iā€™m glad Lori told Mare, but I am suspicious as to why John told her all of that - he would have known for sure she would tell Mare. Billyā€™s got to be the fall guy (I did think for a minute that John was going to kill his father in a whole ā€˜who else knows?ā€™ scenario ...)

Only bit I didnā€™t like was the bit with the bath - just for its sheer manipulation.

Iā€™m probably totally wrong but I think the show is as much about Mare as it is about the murder. I think Siobhan is a teen facing the loss of her brother, and her father to divorce (you know what I mean) and her mother has shut down totally and is quite the angry witch. She saw the most horrible thing and sheā€™s right to be so angry. And so sheā€™s struggling.

I think Lore is caught between a rock and a hard place, knowing something is up with John and Billy (are there ANY nice guys in this town??) and not knowing or wanting to deal with that.

I think Richard (Guy Pearce) is probably a genuinely nice guy who will be on the fringes to show Mare life is good as well as bad.

I donā€™t know what the hell is up with Dylan or erinā€™s friend. I definitely think John is a wanker and up to his eyes in it. Billy is too probably but John is the alpha male who gaslights his brother. And I think one of the secrets is up there in the attic Mare wonā€™t go into.
