Madeleine McCann Netflix documentary

The "comment" from the friend is actually a police statement. The fact that this woman felt so strongly about her gut instincts that something untoward was going on with dr David Payne and his relations to kids is something to take seriously and not dismiss just on the basis he is also a father and in a respected career. Pedofiles come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. It's not always the creepy loner lurking in the shadows. Of course we can't directly accuse someone of being that way inclined without evidence so I can't say anymore on it. However Dr Gaspar had her reasons and cleared her conscience by informing the police even if it meant people turned on her.
I don't know if dr Payne is part of the Freemasons but Gerry is and they as a secret and powerful organisation are superior at coving things up. So to, @Apple In My Pie don't disregard your first comment on here, you had valid points. We all need to keep an open mind. What may seem incomprehensible and ghastly to us may be well in the capabilities of another individual.

Regarding the comment Kate made regarding her fearing her daughters "perfect genitals" being torn apart, I've just had a thought. If maddie was to have been found in the early days and a post mortem was carried out and it was shown that she had been a victim of child molestation/rape this comment would set the foundations that this must have happened after she was missing, by the "kidnapper" and in no way before.

Sorry if any of these thoughts offend anyone, it's just for so many children this kind of thing isn't far fetched or a conspiracy theory, it's their reality. Again just to clarify I am not outright calling anyone a pedofile, just going by a police statement by a concerned mother/family friend who knew these people. I know there was speculation about Gerry and child abuse images but I can't really delve into that, but I think it's important not to immediately dismiss it and it's good that other people on here are bringing it to others attention.

I know there is 9 to watch but I got half way through 8 last night, had a massive cry and said to the hubs I can’t watch this anymore. All the odd strange men breaking in to hotel rooms and hurting small children, the kids who have been trafficked, the one who scared me was the woman who found the man in her living room when she was doing the washing upstairs. So I can’t finish it, I can’t stand the thought that someone could do such vile disgusting things to a small child like they are suggesting. So that’s me done on this.

They might’ve not have gone to prison, but with everything in the investigation and the facts, there’s a lot more people that think they guilty, the high court themselves haven’t cleared the Mccanns, there arguido states has been lifted because the case as been shelved. There was a lot at stake and the police would eventually find out what really happened but the Mccanns ad a lot of friends in the right place! There maybe never be justice for Madeleine but her parents are guilty and a lot of people know that.

One quote always sticks in my mind - ”everyone lies, the innocent lie because they don't want to get blamed for something they haven't done, and the guilty lie because they have no chokce”
Looking at the evidence they have admitted to gross negligence by leaving their kids repeatedly so what are lying about.

Realistically there are 3 possible theories
1) Madeleine died in the day and they removed her body and came up with an abduction theory to create enough doubt to stop them being blamed for her desth .
The issues with this are how did they hide and dispose of the body in a foreign country. They would have needed a lot of help and local knowledge
2) she was sold to a paedophile ring/smuggling group
Horrific to think of a parent doing this to their own child but there have been cases in the past so shouldn't be discounted. Questions about their friends and Gerrys past do give this more weight and would have been easier to do then option 1 (covering up a death) maybe this is where the ”perfect genitals” reference is from - they know what's happening to their daughter in the hands of a paedophile?
3) random abduction
Local kidnapping gang on lookout for complete idiots who leave kids unattended. The note in the restaurant book could have given locals an opportunity, if they did the same thing every night and being watched then gang could have known when to strike.
I just don't believe the actions of the McCann's backs up this possibility

"The McCann’s may well have profited from their book or interviews but stealing directly from donations raised to find her surely would lead them to prison?" - Horatio

@Horatio ( I've just butchered this quote sorry)

I remember it being found out that the official fund was not registered as a charity but as a private company. This came as a shock to a lot of people. Which would suggest they were in full control of any money they recieved through well wishers thinking they were donating to a charity. Also there was talks of funds "going missing". They also use this fund to pay their spin doctor Clarence Mitchell. A lot of people at the time were under the guise that they were donating to charity directly and money has been used on other things allegedly like silencing aka suing anyone that raises any suspicions about them. So they can't go to prison for that as its a business and their money now, to use how they like. Usually in bringing people to court if they bring up something that is not in their favour.

I read that when the Portuguese police released all the files ‘they’ paid 100k to get them translated

Then Kate was paid to trawl through them to try and help find clues etc

I think the public believe the parents had something to do with t because nothing seems to add up. I also think there is a class issue. If they hadn’t been two drs just a single mum from a council estate they would have been ripped apart by the press.

People can’t inderstand why kate left the twins when she found Madeleine gone, why she didn’t answer the questions, why she washed her toy and so on.
Agreed.

I think its also I just don't understand why they'd leave the kids at all. Like it just seems odd to me. I mean most parents wouldn't even do that at home to pop to the shops or pub or whatever unless the child was much older, let alone in another country? I've seen tons of people on Twitter defending them like 'they made a mistake' or 'loads of people left their kids, it was normal in a resort like that as you were just downstairs'. Its not as if they were out with her, turned around and she was abducted. If that was the case, I'd have more sympathy for them.

What baffles me is how you could leave your three children all under the age of five in an apartment in a foreign country at night for almost a week so you can go to dinner and think that's OK?
The world is full of sick people someone could of been watching there routine and noticed what they where doing and took there chance to snatch her!
The parents behaviour don't do them any favours and make it very hard for people not to think there involved in someway.
Yet the British press seemed to love them at the time. I remember they where all over the papers, and TV they even went to met the pope ffs! how the twins weren't took off them is crazy!

I know! One of the twins could have fallen out of their cots & cracked their heads. They could have choked. A fire could have started. Yet Kate & Gerry were treated like celebrities! Kate said in an interview that they weren’t the criminals, whoever took Madeleine were but they practically served her up on a plate by leaving her alone. I wouldn’t leave older kids in an apartment on their own on holiday never mind 2 babies & a toddler! 😡

Just asking but Is it actually the normal thing to do to leave children unattended?? That British male news reporter with long hair on, I think episode 1 said he’s left his child in his hotel room to go out with his partner too? I actually questioned my husband if there was something wrong with us that we wouldn’t do it 🙈 And our kids are 13+

No, it’s not normal! Definitely not normal to leave children unattended in a foreign country or even at home, I don’t blame you and I wouldn’t leave mine, they go with me and my husband, when on holiday it’s the same, that’s why it’s a family holiday. It’s out of order.

I find it disgusting enough that they left their tiny, defenceless children alone in a foreign country to eat out with their friends — but what baffles me more is that Kate then left the twins a further time, on the night of Madeleine’s abduction — to run out and raise the alarm of ‘THEY’VE TAKEN HER’. Now if she ran out and alerted the tapas group, ‘THEY’VE taken her’ shes obviously thinking Madeleine’s been kidnapped so why the hell would she then leave her one year old children in the room her daughter was snatched from?! If that was me they wouldn’t be leaving my sight! For all she knew, the abductors could’ve been still inside or close to the apartment, could have decided to harm the twins or something the second she left that room.

Just another thing to think about. I know in situations like this no one knows how they’d react but surely ffs as a mother your first instinct is to protect your children?! It just strikes me as so odd, how can you be so sure your children will be safe in the room your daughter was just taken from, enough to then leave them there alone again?!

Definitely not normal, especially babies and a toddler. Anyone who says it is needs their head testing! These people wouldn't leave babies in their own home alone so I'm baffled why they'd do it in a foreign country with the door unlocked

Didnt she have her phone on her? She could have rang someone while staying in the apartment.

I couldn't even leave my goddaughter asleep on the sofa last week to go and check on the old dog next door who was barking!

No thought not, I was actually concerned I was a massively over protective parent (I’m really not the things my boys do is just ridiculous, I mean the 16 year old climbed in the loft this week, waited until I came upstairs and dropped down out of the hatch to scare me the little swine, that’s not a child that’s molly coddled) but I wouldn’t ever leave them asleep abroad in an unlocked or locked apartment, what if there was a fire and they’re locked in!? Honestly doesn’t bare thinking about.

Can I also come to the point lots of people have made that if I was a “council estate mum” (god I hate that term I know lovely people who live on council estates but I know what you’re getting at) they’d have been arrested on landing in the uk and done with negligence and endangering a minor. Why have social services paid no visits to this family? My eldest went to school full of Kevin the teenager nonsense “I hate my mum” “she treats me like a slave” (he’s most certainly not whipped, starved and shackled just simply asked to do the dishwasher) “there’s nothing in” (there’s no potnoodles he can rush to eat so he can go back to his PS4) you get my drift, by 4pm I had 2 women from social services here asking to check my kitchen cupboards and fridge and the children’s bedrooms and asking about the children’s chores 😂 I mean, seriously? Yet these utter half Whitt’s left 3 babies in a room abroad, unlocked and pissed off for a meal and some drinks after not even having the poor little buggas all day and they’re okay 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ Pull the other one

I never understood how they left their kids in the apartment, is this a generation thing?
Some of the things I used to get away with as a teenager freak me out that at some point my kids will be that age and I have no idea how me and my friends made it home every night safe.
The thing that always bothered me most was they left the door unlocked, any of those kids could have woken up and gone to look for their parents and opened the door to find them. Very very bizarre

That’s outrageous they came to your home!! How intrusive haven’t they got actual at risk children to be looking after?
