Totally
If that's the best they have to offer it's gonna be a snoozefest
Might be good to get us all off to sleep of an evening 😂
On a vaguely related note, I LOLed when I read this damning review of Jamie's podcast😂

The photoshop is really bad in the cast shoot. Everyone looks miserable bar Princey. They definitely got told different dress codes. They look like they were held at gunpoint...and poor Emily has no legs (sidenote: I thought she may be backing away from MIC).

There was chat about lack of diversity in the insta commons. So Paris' comment suggests Ruby goes by White (her ethnicity is often discussed on here)? Then again can't bank on her judgement as she forgets Miles' is mixed race.
Can't remember what nationality her parents are but I'm sure someone said on here before that Ruby heavily fake tans

Ruby comes from Jewish heritage. Her dad looks a bit dark, not sure what his ethnicity is. I remember someone on here saying he looks like he might be of African descent.

This whole diversity debate...I find it annoying when people politicise TV shows to the nth degree. Can't we just appreciate the show as a bit of light-hearted car crash TV, without getting all political about it? Not being a person of colour, I don't know how offended I'd be to not be represented on the show. If anything, I think I'd be quite relieved to not be culturally associated with a bunch of entitled white silver spoon kids.

Fresh meat for this season, Freddy Knatchbull.

Filthy rich and well-connected (as in Mountbatten family). Model and student, only 19. Wants to break into acting. Seems to be friendly with Yasmin.
How the hell are the Locke Lockes going to run about and pretend to be friends with a 19 year old?! I hate the current cast and how the just throw random people in and expect us all to believe they’re all big pals. Bring back an actual friendship group please!

God, a 19 y/o...It makes me really not want to watch it now (as well as making me feel ancient). Regarding Ollie, it's a bit bizarre, isn't it? Like what are he and Gareth actually getting out of the show? They must be aware what tosh it's become, and how ridiculous it makes them look still being attached to it, like a pair of desperate old uncles. Incentive-wise, I can only imagine they're doing it for the freebie holidays and getting to hang around with the people they actually like as mates (basically just Liv and Emily).

A lot of Ollie's storylines seem to revolve around him being catty and judgemental about various cast members' romantic choices. In fact, I think that's always been a huge part of his role on the show. He used to judge Binky no end over her romantic choices and stick his oar into her relationships.

I have absolutely no interest in watching a 19 year old!
I think it’s well past its sell by date to be honest!
yea Ollie and Gareth are just like two uncles looking down their noses at everyone.

I don't want to watch a 19 year old either...I'm 33 this year and I can't watch teenagers like this 😂
I think MIC has had its day...most of us still around are probably of a similar age as we were the target age when it first aired
Ffs I’m 33 too and still really enjoy it 😂😂 - I’ll see myself out!!

Would love and OG version with kids and hubby’s etc but never going to happen!

Same here! I'm a similar/slightly younger than many of the series one OGs, and it's remarkable how much more mature and classy they were compared to this current bunch. I always viewed them as being older than me, even they were a similar age. Funnily, my 40+ y/o colleague talked about the OG series not so long ago, and how shocked she was when she realised they were all a decade younger than her. She genuinely thought Caggie and Spencer etc were approaching their 30s when the show first aired😂

I am a minority so I will say this, I understand the annoyance that people have about everything being political. And I don't personally require everything have someone like me represented in order to enjoy it. But I do have a problem with people in general thinking people of my race should almost exist outside of history. To have any representation at all even in fictional/fantasy/historical roles for people of my race seems to get not only a lot of white people irrate but also other races of people.

I do think it is lazy how Hollywood likes to racebend instead of giving creative of other races chances to tell unique stories. Thar would be a good example of true inclusivity having diversity in front and behind the camera.

With Made in Chelsea it is neither here nor there for me. But if they are going to have someone like Paris, at least give her an opportunity for storylines. It is all just surface. Same with Akin. He was just sort of there. Paris barely got a moment to talk about her dating struggles/racism and I don't get the impression that the other girls really interact with or care for her to include her in activities. I notice they don't really engage with her comments on social media like they do with everyone else. So for me, seeing this attempt at diversity just triggers life memories of being excluded the same way or just being treated like the scenery. You're just there so they have "proof" and people will stop the complaining.

As for the political, I think it is also the fact that when people are considered the standard and default in society they won't see things that are political as that. It is interesting to see things people say that are becoming too political not realizing that those things in part have always kind of been political. There is obviously a political and cultural meaning behind why certain groups and genders etc. are often portrayed to reinforce and justify all sorts of things.

But MIC is not the hill I would die on for all this. It is just messy reality TV and escapism. I feel a lot of people want to virtue signal and just say they want diversity of all kinds for internet points. It is the in thing to do.

@micfan I really agree with you about Paris. It’s always secretly made me sad. Every new girl MIC has had, boys immediately swarm them and take them out on dates. Verity, Issy, Yasmin, even Willow. No one was interested in Paris and I really don’t feel like she was welcomed. Normally the girls become best friends almost instantly and I feel like they all really gelled with Robbie her best friend but not her. I noticed most of them don’t even follow her on social media. To me it’s pretty obvious racism whether they’re aware of it or not. I hope she doesn’t feel too down about it but it’s just sad to see.

I have always thought Paris was refined, calm and ladylike and so rose above their petty embarrassing tit
She wouldn't touch half of them with a barge pole and doesn't get drunk and embarrass herself like most of them

Totally agree. I don’t think it has anything to do with racism. I think the other girls are quite shallow while Ruby is much better than that.
