It makes a mockery of the recruitment process. No point applying to go on as you won't get on.

Not sticking up for itv or anything but all shows have a casting team they send researchers out to pubs/clubs etc to scout people they may think be good for the show. Alot of the islanders were found that way this year! It’s always been the same even in the earlier series all of the contestants in season 1 and 2 were headhunted in the streets. Big brother xfactor etc all had casting researchers it’s how television has always been

Also they still go through the same application process as everyone else it just means they’ve been asked to apply instead of applying directly
