It really is weird, I can't work out if they are purposefully selecting people who aren't out of this world attractive (like previous seasons) to be more diverse/relatable like has been stated... Because even though they're less attractive - harsh but think we're all in agreement - they are all SO fake and so similar? I mean Sharon and Faye wtf, and almost all of them have fake boobs, fake lips, botox, even down to the (faux) Essex accents and drawling voices. Do Love Island actually think they're more relatable and a better representation of the public than say Maura was?

I just think Love Island needs a cast of exceptionally goodlooking people whether we like it or not, as they're now so image conscious that a true bombshell is the only motivator to get them to take risks or behave badly. I mean Chloe isn't really gonna excite anyone versus an Ovie or India

Absolutely. It feels like they came up with the Casa Amor "twist" and have been so thrilled with themselves they still think it's amazing and they don't have to think of anything new ever again.

In season 3, if you didn't get picked after Casa Amor, you got dumped. Remember when Dom deliberately went back in single to make sure Montana got to stay (and wanted to leave and get Jess?). That was high stakes! Now, there's no risk. Sure, someone might be pissed with you, but they're still there. When Anna came back with Ovie, could you imagine if Jordan got dumped?! Instead, he was there and they got back together. Same with Kem and Amber-Kem took that girl back in from CA, dumping Amber would have been INSANE. Now, they can just get back together and carry on. They should bring that back ASAP.

Although, if I was doing it, I wouldn't just do Casa Amor where they chuck you in with new people, I'd make it speed dating. You go in, you spend an hour dating every single person and then you pick one to couple up with for the rest of the time in CA, and then you have couples that have proper connections who have to choose before going back to the main villa.
 
Got my bins ready to be taken out when the dates start tonight, an excellent idea suggested by a previous poster!

They also need to let them wear their own clothes. They still wore their own stuff in season 3 I think and looked better. Also LI Australia's cast looked more stylish. Over here we have tight deep plunge polyester numbers and 500 variations of the underboob bikini. Btw do normal bikinis not exist anymore? The bottoms are always super high cut, why?!

The boys are just so boring this year. There’s not an ounce of personality amongst any of them and it’s resulting in everything being one sided relationship wise.

Jake is awful, for some reason he thinks Lib is punching with him when it’s the other way around! Liam is one of the worst contestants in however many years, Brad is lovely but simple, Toby doesn’t look like he’s even been to the shop unsupervised.

And don’t get me started on Kaz’s bed hat! I can see how it would put Toby off wanting to be romantic.
 
Yah I’ve often wondered why do they have to wear the same cheap shit every single day. Like you’d never see anyone wear just shorts and a top during the day or flats in the evening. It’s all very constructed and manufactured. You’re never gonna get sparks that way. I think as the show got more popular and more issues arose, the more pressure the production felt to try and still produce drama but a more sanitised and controlled version than years gone by. Every single thing feels stage managed, from where they sit and chill during the day to who they choose to sit with in the evening and what they talk about. It’s all purposely managed, and so you lose the magic and drama that comes with living spontaneously with 10 odd strangers. If they’re going to interfere so much with what initially made the show magic because of outside tragedies and pressure then they may as well do away with the show in its current format altogether, as what initially made it popular was how real these people were willing to be. Now it’s all too contrived. But having said that I would love a celebrity love island, they might be a bit more seasoned in knowing what’s in store and can sometimes be that bit more shameless and entertaining than those fresh out of the womb solely looking for fame.
 
Whenever someone asks to pull you for a chat you HAVE to say yes which I don’t understand and Kem said that the producers forced them to talk about their feelings which I don’t like at all if someone doesn’t want to talk don’t bloody force them too

it’s too orchestrated I missed the smoking area talks pity it got complaints they need to bring it back

This show is the next Geordie / Jersey Shore or something the producers will be the downfall of their own show Love Island is their most money maker and they’re nessing it so much

I’m not watching it tonight

Exactly - I really think the producers should've forgotten about the money this season and really thought about their duty of care to the contestants and the general public, by putting in the people they have, they've actually made it worse because they are such low hanging fruit for the trolls. If they had put in average Joe and chatty Cathy and given them tasks to do like water polo and water aerobics, wine tasting, paella making - it would've been better.
