I feel really passionate about violence against women and girls… and it starts from the comments the men are making on love island. If anyone is interested look up the “sexual violence pyramid” which completely summarises everything which you’ve all highlighted from watching the boys this series.
we do lots of work with girls and women to help them recognise the signs of toxic and abusive relationships but guess what! The next step as a society is to really focus on the “good” men
taking more responsibility to teach boys and other guys to 1) understand, articulate and manage their emotions in a healthy and non abusive way and 2) call this bullshit out when they see it - especially ESPECIALLY when it’s their own bleeping friends.
I’ve seen the lovely men I have in my life get better at calling out male strangers (so for example they might intervene if a guy is being an ass in a bar to a women). But they still can’t seem to do it when it’s a friend they’ve known for years!
It starts with the sexist, double standards crap and then in some cases it really does escalate to all sorts. Most sexual offenders against women show a pattern of previous sexist comments. Now before anyone starts I’m in no way saying that the love island boys will do that (
) but I absolutely am saying that again, it’s a spectrum/ pyramid and having this play out as entertainment on tele is really, really worryingRANT OVER. Thanks for listening

Tasha is a awful woman and gets away with so much because of her hearing disability. People are probably scared of being called ableist if they say something wrong about her. It doesn't help she's so thin skinned that she regularly makes a mountain out of a mole hill.

Danica to me is the definition of a people pleaser, I hardly ever use the term “bless her” as it’s often used to validate peoples’ mistakes but I will use it here, she’s an honest open-hearted young woman, who wears her heart on her sleeve: such a shame she’s in this particular series as has been pointed out upthread the girls in this series are not girls’ girls.Tasha and Danica are just so young and green. They both don’t know how to react and handle these situations and then seek advice from the other girls of how to react, and they try and act on that. Danica confronting Billy was mostly because she was encouraged by Ekin and I imagine the producers were gagging for some kind of confrontation. They mostly just seem like pawns for the producers this year
I wonder how Danica copes in the highly competitive dance world, you have to have skin like a rhino .. emm perhaps I’ve answered my own question

because to them, “wife material” is someone docile and demure who will give them an easy life. Not someone who will be an equal partner, challenge them, challenge the to be better or be someone they can respect.

I think there needs to be more done around teaching young people and everyone else the signs of coercive control too. I used to work for a women’s organisation and like the sexual violence pyramid you’re talking about domestic violence is so much more than the physical abuse that can happen (you’ll already know all this) I just wish tv shows would catch up with this stuff and try to promote a healthier dynamic.AllSeeingEye123

I'm not a fan of hers, I find her kind of annoying, but I don't want to watch her being bullied either. That's not entertainment to me.

Billy repulses me and I got the major ick watching him gurning his head off sweating profusely, but I agree with what his sister is saying here
Danica had no right to be pissed at him for telling the boys when she also told the girls, and the whole show is formatted in the way that each morning they are expected to reveal what happened under the covers the night before. I think she felt embarrassed that the villa knew they did stuff and then she was pied off by him the next day. I think she went completely OTT in the beach club, not saying she didn’t have a right to bring it up again but I cringed for her at time, the shouting, the mannerisms and catchphrases! I know I’m in the minority here but I don’t like how she handled it at all. Not saying she didn’t have the right to be upset but come on, you told people too Danica! I think she was embarrassed by the whole situation and tried to come out on top as some kind of bad ass queen

He was just as bad in Series 4, his MO was jumping ship to ship when in truth it was only one bunny boiler that 'made him'. He knows Paige is popular on the outside so won't jump ship this close to the final.

I really liked it in the challenge when she just had it in a ponytail and looked like it was just her natural hair without a weave.
I didn’t realise what a bit deal black hair was until a colleague came in and felt super self conscious because she didn’t have a weave and just her natural hair. Her hair looked absolutely fine and it made me feel so sad for her that she was so self conscious about it. So I really like when I see black girls wear their natural hair on TV, as awesome as weaves can be too.

He was alright on British As Folk with Ivo Graham and Fern Brady going around different places to see if they are as bad as they are made out to be. I just don't see the point of him being on every single week unless they have a quota where they need a token black person.
