It’s definitely not a great example but these are grown adults consenting to sex, i personally wouldn’t want my teen to watch 🤷🏼‍♀️
No I don't mean just the sex part, for me that's probably the least of my concern, sex is sex isn't it? It's the format of the show really, girls lining up to be picked judged solely on looks, the glorification and acceptance of toxic behaviour. All the surgery, bikini’s getting smaller every year, lack of true diversity. And the way they behave is all a bit immature. Not a great example for teens.

Unpopular opinion perhaps but I like that Kaz did this for Lib as it was just after Jake’s VT and her confidence was low.
That's a really good point! I didn't think about it like that because I'm convinced everything Lib does it to set herself up as an influencer but maybe I need to stop being so cynical 😂

I’ve literally just turned off. I know it’s the nature of the show but what the hell does this teach 15/16 year old girls watching this? Have sex on TV and you can be insta famous? Na.

One of the reasons the Faye stuff annoys me is because this show is really popular with teenagers, and the producers are well aware of that. They need to be more mindful of the relationship dynamics that they're role modelling to impressionable young people.

It bothered me that Danny was allowed to stay after that comment was found for the same reason. He was even shown going on a date with Kaz, who was oblivious to the language he'd used in the past and so was unable to factor that in to her opinion of him.

It's not OK for ITV to show these behaviours not having any consequences, especially to teenagers!

I've been uncomfortable about this since the Danny thing but actually having organised my thoughts by writing this essay I think I'm done watching it now. I can't justify contributing to the viewing figures of this mess. I'll still hang around this thread though, this is most entertaining part of the whole experience anyway 😂

This is getting worse by the day! Didn't even bother watching last night even tho I was doing duck all! Put it on there now fast forward through 90% of it if its not pure cringe its snoozefest!

Get rid of the couple up "speechs"
Let them sleep were they want...far more interesting
Get rid of the crappy slime/spit challenges...much better with them finding out stuff and having to earn it!
Get rid of the staged convos give us more unseen bits!
AND make our frign votes count!!!!

When I checked on this before they closed it Chloe and Toby had swapped with Faye and Teddy. I can’t believe people think Millie and Liam are genuine. She’s 100% only stayed with him to keep herself in the show as she knows it’s coming to an end. I think in the real world she’s have a lot more self respect.

I reckon Millie will be the only one who stays semi-famous from this series. The rest of the cast are just 🤷🏻‍♀️
I disagree, I think she seems very genuine about him

Love Island 'cut secret sex scenes' from ITV2 show published last night, the timing is :sneaky:

I'd be interested to know what the production team told the contestants i.e. "We won't show anything graphic, we promise!" Did they warn contestants that signs of sex would be shown, like the obvious duvet rustling and humping?

Yes, they're talking about it openly, though the NVQ stuff is bullshit, but it's the women of the villa that stand to lose more in the wider world - the receptions between Zara and Alex were very different.
I think part of the major issue with Zara and Alex, wasn’t that they had sex, it was that he was ‘with’ Olivia, they barely knew each other and what love island showed was her under the covers, Alex’s face, and then a close up of Zara’s face after. Plus the way she acted afterwards, and him, they both regretted it which doesn’t go down well either. And it just felt sordid, even compared to Emma being daft enough to think they wouldn’t show her and Terry if they weren’t under the covers.

this year with all the Nvq nonsense is annoying, the squealing and acting like kids, it makes it seem even more fake and scripted than it already is

I agree with this. It would be really good if they had a relationship councellor or something on the show and the contestants talking to them. Not in an intrusive "in therapy" way, but in a general, "hey Faye, do you think yelling at Teddy was ok?" just to give the therapist a platform to address the issues. It's not ok for teenagers to see her get away with her behaviour almost like it's just a funny quirk, and Teddy still get back with her, like he should put up with being treated like that. On the outside, he's going to go to public appearances and have women throwing themselves at him. She's not going to trust him and hook up with all the men in clubs as "revenge" and it's going to be a mess. Teenagers need to see someone calling this out before Faye leaves the villa as some Z list celebrity and is basically rewarded for her drama by getting in the papers.

So liberty admired they had already had sex. How had jake not said anything about this? I really really do not like Jake and get the impression she would have slept with him just to try and keep hold of him.
I dont believe they have. He would not have kept his mouth shut about it

Zaras face after actually haunts me 😂 god love her you can tell she was drunk, had had multiple rejections at that point and just really wanted some intimacy/to feel fancied

Aw that’s really sad. Did everyone reject her? I’ve seen a YouTube clip of the morning after and thought the girls were very arsey with her over it and Olivia was really smug about how she’d never do that but I’ve zero context as I never watched that season and know very little about any of the contestants other then Alex and Olivia got married (I think).

Unless he kept quiet about it as part of his plan to come across as the Nice Guy to the public?
I'm still cynical AF 😂 so I question both their motives when they apparently had sex a while ago but neither mentioned it until one of them was in the bottom three. Maybe they're worried that they come across as boring or don't get enough airtime, so suddenly they're being open about sex and they're having ridiculous issues about a grotty piece of string 😂

Been told there is a public vote of the Love Island app.
Lots of categories to include:
Most Genuine Couple; Biggest Showmance; First to split after leaving the villa; Most One Sided Relationship; Most annoying couple; Who is most likely to cheat …
Surely this has to be a challenge 🤞
Love Island might get interesting again.

Not totally rejected, having other contestants preferred over you is not rejection, it’s Love Island, but she did go on and on about it .. and seemed to forget that she had rejected a couple of the other boys herself.
No one was arsy with her the next morning, everyone showed support when they saw how upset she was when she realised how her behaviour would be perceived. Olivia and Alex hadn’t actually coupled up or shared a bed at that moment but it was obvious they fancied each other. She spoke privately with Olivia in the morning, who was reasonable with her.

Ah it definitely felt like a big rejection for a young girl who clearly thought she and her title were the be all and end all. As i recall she fancied multiple guys and they all chose some one else over her each time.

Her confidence was knocked easily enough though

Genuine question to anyone shocked about them having sex - did you ever watch the earlier seasons?

I think the fact that they all planned it rather than letting it just happen when it feels right was a bit cringe, but other than that, I don’t massively see the having sex/self worth connection.

Women can have sex and respect themselves too.
👏👏👏 Thank You

Theslut shaming is getting old. A lot of victims of the patriarchy on this thread!
