Yeah the Scientology movie. It was like a load of cutting room floor footage just thrown together. No flow or anything.


Yeah that was a really hard watch. I just felt depressed after that, it was just uncomfortable viewing for the most part. Such a debilitating disorder that it's hard to grasp probably unless you've been through it.

Yeah her book is a really interesting read. And the mum didn’t look like her former self did she. Like the light had dimmed. It’s sad. I’m not agreeing with what they do whatsoever but she was brainwashed from birth.

I actually thought Jael would be the one to leave as she seemed quite conflicted in the first one even though she didn't want to admit it. A lot of questions seemed to make her uncomfortable. However now married with kids she seems really bitter and hateful about everything. That was a really weird pairing with the UK guy.

I know! I agree. Very strange pairing. Megans story of getting our and finding love is actually really lovely.
 
To mention his latest one - definitely wasn't his best. But maybe that's because I don't get all the hype over that Tiger King stuff anyway. Revisiting can be good but not when he's on the edges of it all like this one. He had his shot but unfortunately didn't get the big story there the first time around.

Hopefully he'll do a series again that's based in the UK.
 
Ooo, I love his documentaries!

The scientology one was interesting to get a bit of a view of what happens to other documentary creators or critics imo, but as someone else said there wasn't that much flow to it

The documentary on autism was interesting, especially the segments focusing on how a mother was struggling to deal with her son - I can't seem to find the actual title since I don't think it was 'extreme love' but I may be wrong

Haven't really bothered with the Tiger King stuff, I'm honestly not a fan and seeing the Joe being called a 'King' as if he didn't abuse the animals in his care is just a huge no no.

For me it's:

Porn - Was interesting to see about the industry just before it collapsed and they all got AIDS (quite grim)

Swingers - He actually got quite into this one LOL

Off-Broadway - Not a whole lot happens in this but there's a certain charm about it

When Louis met Max Clifford - One of the only time I've seen Louis on the ropes in a documentary. Clifford came off looking even more of a twit in the end though

Louis and the brothel - Pretty crazy what went on in there. Some troubled souls

Louis and the Nazis - He didn't have to do much here, the people pretty much just hung themselves. Some terrible people

Gambling in Las Vegas - This is the one I've rewatched the most. Just find it entertaining.

The Most hated family in America - One of his best. I'll include all the other parts as well.

Extreme Love: Autism - Had no real idea what people go through with this condition. Eye opening.

Extreme Love: Dementia - Heartwarming and heartbreaking

LA Stories: City of dogs - Found this really depressing. Poor dogs.


I don't hate the other, they're good but wouldn't go out my way to rewatch them

Thank you for this thread because it reminded me that I'd always wanted to watch the one about Max Clifford again, which I found on Daily Motion. It's quite strange watching Max strutting around, all full of his own importance, and knowing how he ended up, collapsing in his prison cell and dying.
I'd also wanted to watch again the one where Louis meets Eugene Terre Blanche, which I found on Documentary Heaven.

I enjoyed his weird weekends book. Was interesting to read about the backgrounds of all the episodes. Wasn't mad on the other one though, some b its were okay but it was a lot of padding.

I tried the Helena Bontham Carter one but wasn't feeling it so gave up early on. I lost track of them but would depend on who he's talking to for me.
 
Love Louis. I feel like I can watch any subject he takes on but my personal faves are The Most Hated Family in America and The Edge of Life from LA Stories.
 
I watched the Tiger King catch up last night, it was all a bit blah really. It's strange he didn't remember Joe outright saying he was thinking of hiring a hitman.
 
I watched the new Joe Exotic one the other night. I thought it was a bit meh to be honest. A bit pointless.

The one I really like was the one where he was with the Ayryan off gridders. (I think - I get them mixed up). Might be the Nazi one.

I just remember them going on about hating gay people but loving "Are You being Served?' and Mr Humphries being their favourite character and Louis getting very close to the mark by insisting him he was gay.

I also like the Scientology one.

i actually loved his podcast - like another poster said I ended up really enjoying the ones where I wasn’t too bothered about the person! Standouts for me were Rylan (honestly saw him in a whole new light after his episode) Justin Theroux and Leah Remini. I thought Frankie Boyles episode was 😴 but I don’t blame Louis for that, he did the best he could with the material he was given..

There was also that weird one where a load of paedophiles all lived in a village type thing together. They kept getting chucked out for getting drunk and stuff. The guy who ran it had also done some horrible crimes. Very weird setup.
