LOTR - The Rings of Power

Been looking forward to this for about 5 years. I’m a total Tolkien saddo. member of the Tolkien Society, I love the lore and all the deep dives and the languages.

I am hopeful but also fearful about this series. My hope is largely because the Tolkien Estate is heavily involved. My fear comes from some of the liberties that clearly have been taken by the showrunners. I fully understand adaptations are just that and there needs to be changes but some of the changes are worrying.

And no, I don’t mean racial stuff. I couldn’t care less if the cast was all white, all black, all Latin American or whatever. I mean the story stuff.

Fingers crossed. I’m invested.

Anyone else looking forward to it or any views on what’s been shown so far?

I'm looking forward to more LOTR in my life, but I'm sceptical too. Fantasy is so hard to pull off, and amazon haven't exactly got a great track record on quality in general, like Netflix tbh.

After GOT finished I've been waiting for a good fantasy series to come along (couldn't get on with The Witcher at all), and I love the original LOTR movies (especially the extended editions) but I'm not getting hopes up. I'll probably let the episodes build up and binge over a week
