So very late to post this but it still annoys me, so I shall vent!
A few weeks ago, the panel were talking about retirement and how the retirement age might be raised and how some people can't afford to retire or might not want to etc etc.
Gloria - who I am getting increasingly annoyed with - chimes in about how when people retire they "go on holiday for 3 months or play golf".
I just remember getting so bloody annoyed at this throwaway comment from her.
Now I fully understand that there will be many people that retire who do (and can) go on to play golf or go on epic long 3 month holidays and no doubt Gloria was speaking about people from her social circle or who have the same wealth as her.
My annoyance was that she said it as if it's an option that we ALL have and as if it's the norm, whereas the majority of people will just be happy to afford to still eat and live when they retire, nevermind anything else.
I just found it so out of touch for the majority of the LW target audience (myself included) who are not wealthy or experience the same privileges as Gloria obviously does.
Later on (I think in another episode) they were talking about how often you should wash pyjamas and she mentioned something about sending laundry "out" to get done.
Again, as if it's something that we all do.
I've noticed the panel normally go a bit quiet when she's made remarks that clearly show her privilege, probably cos they realise it's not entirely relatable.
