I'm very worried for poor Steve this series. Do we know if a series 7 is going to be happening? Or will 6 just tie up the lose ends.

I thought I read that it has been renewed for another two series after Series 5, and Vicky McClure did refer to wanting to make another series post Covid in an interview recently. I'm sure the BBC would love another series, it's a big deal for them.

I'm worried for Steve this series too. If one of the three is to die, I think it'll be him. I haven't heard anything about a series 7 and I think this might be the last series because 1. I think one of the three is going to die 2. The extra episode for this series.

I think it was renewed for 5&6 at the same time.

Ya all very good points this could be it alright

I've always thought this was done to show that Dot wasn't really rotten to the core and/or he had a thing for Kate.

There may be more to it, of course. He might have protected Kate because she's in deep with the OCG and is more important than he ever was...

I've never really suspected Kate of any wrongdoing but I guess anything is possible!

This is my thinking too. That chilli wasn't made for nothing. I always thought that by the end of S3, Dot was just trying to save his own skin and didn't really hold any allegiance to the OCG anymore. I've never thought of Kate being bent but rewatching with it in mind does make for interesting viewing lol. I still think she's too determined in her job to be bad. I'd love for a mad twist though 😂 but only if it's believable.

I'm not sure if they could string out the plot for another series. I always think shows should finish things up before it goes downhill. There's a second series of Bloodlands commissioned too (which I couldn't get into) that Mercurio might be busy with.

'That chilli wasn't made for nothing' is the Quote Of The Day!

Am really worried after a rewatch of Ep.2. At first I thought Kate was deep undercover and only Ted knew, but now I'm wondering why she's gone to work with Buckells and dodgy Jo.

Blood lands was awful

I still find Kate very shady and the least explored character . She has done some questionable things ...the affair with Gina Akers husband / the suspicious phone call prior to Ginas death / blowing her cover multiple times / lying to Steve /. Keeping stuff to herself / the questionable home life. Why has she never been interrogated ? I’m looking forward to that if it happens !!

Another thing that’s bothered me ....if Dot knew she was on his case with a gun at the end of season 3 why did he take a bullet for her ? That always stuck with me , why would he protect her ? Was it just his normal instinct to save someone or was it cause he knew she was part of it and had to carry on ....It just seemed odd that he’s in fear of his life being heavily pursued by Kate and the police and then jumps in front the bullet.
Its the one main part of LOD that was really poor imo, i just dont believe he would have done that, i mean to escape he called in armed coppers to shoot them so he hardly cares, i dont believe for one minute he would push her out the way and take the bullet.
I think there are a few mistakes surrounding those scenes, i think Dot suddenly having a conscience was Mercurio trying to redeem a character in the last moments that didnt work imo, and then there is a mistake either in the editing or something which will show Kate to be a bent copper, and it was the recording of his dying declaration, somewhere along the line the recording changed between Hastings listening to it and it being heard in another scene, sometimes i think Mercurio is so invested he sometimes writes himself into corners and uses a bit of shark jumping to get out of it.

Even with some of the weird plot holes and poor ways of getting out of it, its still the best TV Drama around at the moment, ive pretty much given up with all british dramas except this one.

Did we ever see Dot's grave? Could he "come back from the dead? lol

I agree as much as I loved that episode it was sketchy and rushed at the end . I always felt that so much weight was put on such an incoherent dying declaration . It didn’t sound like anything but I think it was Kate who said “ H “ . It never seemed clear what he said and it felt at the time how on earth did they get “ H “ from that . I did think at the time it was a diversion away from the real facts . I think that’s when it added to my theory that Kate isn’t as good as she could be .

I never saw Dot as saving Kate really but more him taking a way out. He was in so deep and there was no way out for him at that point. So he might have saved Kate but also saved himself in the process. I think he just realised that was it, take death or a life behind bars. Just my view of it but totally don’t buy into the morse code H bit. Can’t wait to see how it all plays out.

actually i would buy that explanation more than anything, cops dont do well in prison although he would be looked after by the OCG, but i would rather think it was suicide than saving Kate as a just dont buy it

It might not be an error in the dying declaration. Craig Parkinson filmed clips for S4 and S5 during S4 filming. It could be intentional as Hastings looks up when Kate’s dialogue is different in the S5 version.

What is this ''chilli'' thing that could incriminate Kate? I can't remember this bit

BBC signed Jed to make 2 more series of LOD after series 5 - they may wrap up this series quite neatly and then go on to a whole new series arc - that’s why I’m wondering if it’s the last series with the glorious trio together - maybe next series will be a whole new set of people set in a completely different place - still fighting “bent coppers”
