Possibly but I don’t think he’ll be short of offers!

BBC Radio Shropshire will be top of the list!!

I genuinely cannot see him anywhere else other than LBC. I think he will be devastated by this, especially in the abrupt way it has finished. I think it would have been kinder to say this is your last contract and then the station is moving on in a different direction. Give him time to adjust.

Of course we're all saying these things without really knowing what has happened. Something is obviously going on behind the scenes. However, the way Steve was on his last show, there was absolutely no indication from him anything was amiss.

Agreed. LBC has long been trying to get away from the shock jock jokey style of radio show/ phone in, and is now a rival to R4 in terms of editorial content. It’s a serious news organisation which has outstanding audience figures and has clearly done exceptionally well recently.

Steve was the old brigade and I suspect only stayed as long as he did because of his market leading audience figures.

Agree he will be devastated, but if he wants to carry on at GB or Talk I would expect them to throw the kitchen sink in to get him so it’s not necessary all over, I for one would follow him to any radio station, as would many thousands.

There's zero variety now on LBC, 24 hrs of the same political doom & gloom awaits, even tonight Nick Abbot will be politics "Serious Nick on Sunday"
Darren Adam had a bit of variety on his show, the tech hour, stuff from his female pal in USA etc.
Steve will be a big loss.

Bring back Lucy Beresford ! 😁

Couldn't beat an hour on anal sex as you were enjoying your saturday night roast.

I read on DS that the live show planned for today was cancelled. I checked yesterday and the Leicester Square Theatre page advertising the event was gone:

No explanation or announcement that the show had been cancelled, just a brutal 'error 404', as if it had never been scheduled. Very strange.

The timing is off - why was there a rush to get rid of Steve so close to this live event? They could have gone ahead, raised some funds for charity and then in a month's time, when his contract expired, gently let him go. I don't believe he resigned, and I don't believe that it's anything to do with the Sam Smith gender nonsense.

I don't understand the suddenness, nor the comments by Ian Payne that there was nothing wrong and Steve would be back soon. There's more to this than we will probably ever know. It's unlikely to be related to Steve's health as LBC would not want to be seen ditching their longest serving presenter for health reasons.

So strange how they have a pattern of getting rid of presenters. Give them a weeks unplanned holiday and then just remove their name from the schedule. I wonder if presenters have to sign an agreement not to talk about any of it?

In the end it would depend on what sort of pay-off they get. Someone like Darren Adam might be cheap for LBC but I would imagine Steve Allen would be a lot more expensive.

Otherwise why would he sign it?

When did he say that?

If he did turn up on another radio station, which personally I doubt, everybody including the media would tune in to hear what he has to say !

Monday or tuesday last week. Be interesting if he makes any mention at the start of the show tomorrow.

Still able to access all his shows on the global app, I put on one from Feb last year to send me into the land of nod last night. He was waffling away happily about mosaics discovered in London.

Always re-assuring that no-one on here has pretend friends who tell them things about Steve's shows, trying to fool us into believing that they haven't assiduously listened themselves in pursuit of their nasty obsession.

I wonder if they will keep Ian Payne on that shift for a while. I feel a bit sorry for him as he was always a stand in, then after Tom S moved from the 10pm slot, Ian filled in. Now when he starts that show at 10pm, he announces himself and then always says "usual slot".

I love (well I don't love it irritates me) whenever Nick is talking to David Buik he starts speaking posh and tries to pretend he's a stock-trader.
Actually in many ways David Buik tries to pretend he is a stock trader. So the problem is doubled.

Buik represents the UK financial industry which has a purpose in that it is a strong area for our economy. But he also looks the other way if there are problems and his message is reinforced by his posh sounding voice..

David Buik is more or less a lobbyist who shows a one sided biased view. Adds nothing useful.

Wish they had an actual financial commentator.

Buik needs some hobbies so he'll stick to his promise of retiring.

Do you think that's true? Are LBC going after the so-called 'wokery' ? I hear quite a wide range of callers from all sides of the political divide when I tune in.

YES in a word. As it is me you are asking.

I've watched LBC and Steve Allen in particular, become more and more P.C. and damped down over the last 15 years. To me the change is quite apparent. However, I'm not here to convince you, I am simply stating my opinion based on observation.

A quick example though would be of how they got rid of Nigel Farage because unlike the rest of the msm fawning over BLM a few years ago, he told the truth as it became apparent (in a tweet), that they were all avoiding.

Same with Majid Nawaz.
