Last time I checked, they hadn't removed the Sam Smith comments from the Global Player. If that was the reason, I'd have expected it to have been deleted before the decision was announced

Maybe we'll hear more later after Steve's show today. I haven't heard it's been cancelled.

Do you think that's true? Are LBC going after the so-called 'wokery' ? I hear quite a wide range of callers from all sides of the political divide when I tune in.

I STILL haven't heard this twunt yet. :cautious:
I don’t believe it’s going that way. It’s always been the whinge of those both left and right that it’s more for one side than the other. Those people just want an echo chamber.

I hear many left and right callers on LBC. One thing they do really well is pitching two opposing views on the phone line at the same time.

I think James' show is a bit of an echo chamber but generally I think they do have a good mix of callers with all the other presenters. I think people with opposing views don't bother phoning James because he'll just call them stupid or racist.

Who are they? There is obvioiusly something relevant but goes above me !

Phil Serrell or Nick Ferrari?

The MOST likely. He is white, middle class, middle aged, over 60, and a conservative. That means means he has further to bend over to accommodate the wokery LBC now prefer, and will be easier to catch out if he speaks mistakenly.

However he (and sometimes JO'B) has the largest audience on the station. Would they risk losing that to bring in a 'nobody' - unless they can find somebody who could achieve the same.

Now I understand. Thanks Fenella.

I really don’t think it’s going the “woke” direction. I stopped listening back in the day because it got too right wing (apart from JOB) - it didn’t seem balanced and it was all a bit sensationalist. Truth be told, I only listened to Steve for some “light ent” and occasionally Nick abbot, who I still really enjoy.

Still no indication who is presenting 10pm tomorrow night? Maybe Nick Abbot for awhile? Listen to the end of his programme, tomorrow morning (tonight !) at 00:58 when he says when he will be back.

I read on another forum it had been cancelled and all tickets were to be refunded. Not sure if that is true though and the theatre itself makes no mention of the show or it being cancelled 🤔

I read that too. Apparently it's on the Face Book groups but they're all private and I don't belong to any of them.

Talk Radio or GB Radio will defo contact his people. I recon it’s up to him if he wants to be back on air.
that kind of audience would be like gold dust !!

Again there maybe something in his contract that says he cannot work for a rival radio statioin until after a certain period of time.

Does Steve have an agent?

LBC could only really ban him from working for a rival if they had a legitimate business interest, which I don't think would hold up for a radio presenter. It's not like in business when people would take sensitive stuff over to a competitor.

They can't easily ban him from doing the only job he knows with anyone else if they've decided to not renew his contract.

After all this time the poor man must feel a huge void in his life if he has been pushed out unexpectedly..just like that? Let's hope he had some say in the matter and was able to negotiate a decent deal although all the money in the world doesn't make up for job loss when the radio show was so important to him.
