I doubt if there's any cheating but the questions are dumbed down for the celeb version. I'm afraid he was just far better than the others.

I thought he did well. He was a firm winner and he had a proper subject. Even I managed to answer most of the questions about 70's disco.
I knew his general knowledge would be good.

I actually agree with all of the above ... pass me more grapes! Has he ever been on University Challenge? More importantly, how did he look? Presentable? Or a dishevelled gnome, frowning and spitting on his way to sit in the famous chair?

I think the comments have been fair. At least a couple of us have given him credit for being a worthy winner. Two out of four is balanced.

He has been on University Challenge. He didn't do so well on that tbh.

He looked quite tidy. Not sure about the way his hairline seems to have been - er, augmented?

It must have been nerve-wracking for James. Imagine going onto a tv programme, knowing it will be watched by thousands (millions?) of viewers, not knowing if he would win or come last.

Yes, he looked like a sociology teacher in a sixth form college. 'Author and Broadcaster' always makes me chuckle ... still, it's a step up from 'Political Commentator'. Unreal how much money people with those self-annointed titles get paid for doing what we here do for free.
